What are we watching on TV?

I've just watched Michael Palin's first Great Railway Journey, Euston to Kyle of Lochalsh - it was made in 1980, which appears to have been about a century ago.

I have a few more to go at yet.

HBO series on Sky 'Mare of East Town.' Kate Winslet as a very world weary detective in small town America. It's just magic to watch her, I think she's up there with Judy Dench and Meryl Streep in her craft.

Just watched 2 episodes of Innocent. I'm not a fan of Katherine Kelly, not by a long shot. But I enjoyed this programme.

Eurovision Semi Final 2, yep this is what lockdown does.... we have score cards and room for notes, so far my comments have been themed on who they remind of... eg, Katy Perry, Little Mix and Erasure. like you do, rock and roll, living the dream ;)

I thought the only good thing about Brexit might just be the end of hours of agony watching the Eurovision Song Contest. What's even worse it's clogging up my favourite TV channel.
I shall consult my book of ancient curses under the boils and pestilence section.

I have the benefit of being in a jurisdiction where "behaviour likely to win a Eurovision Song Contest" is specifically illegal and unconstitutional.

Interview with one of the acts a few years ago here - at 1:50 in.

We’ve just watched “I can hear your voice”

We really really love this programme.
We actually watched the last 5 minutes 3 times over.

And now, for the first time since forever, I don’t actually want to watch Eurovision.
I know.

Thing is, for years husband has said he hates it but sits through it with gritted teeth every year.
This year I can’t be bothered and at least 10 times tonight he’s said ‘Go on, put it on if you want to”

I think he’s secretly gutted.

We watched all 4 episodes of this last night.
Quite enjoyed it, although I did guess whodunnit.

I thought it was his fiancee that did the deed. I really enjoyed it, and the scenery was just stunning.
Katherine Kelly has gone up in my estimation as an actress now.

I really enjoyed Katharine Kelly in Mr Selfridge.
She’s not type cast at all, she can play different characters really well.

Its funny though isn’t it @Glam how watching someone in something can really change your opinion of them?

I can remember watching her in Coronation St. Couldn't stand her in that. It's the same with the actress Denise Welch, I loved her in Soldier Soldier, but again, in Corrie, really disliked her. And now she's in Loose Women, I like her again!

So of course we ended up watching Eurovision, but late, just as they were doing the results.

I quickly googled our entry and watched it on you tube, total rubbish, boring non song so wasn’t expecting any points.

So, we watched the scoring bit and could see which countries were becoming popular but because we hadn’t watched the actual singing we couldn’t make any personal judgement.

Until the end when we heard the winning song.

We both just stared open mouthed with appalled expressions, and then husband said

“If this counts as popular music then we are officially old”.

I echoed my old Dad “ Where’s the actual tune”.

HAH !!! (Tries not to gloat.) :P

Oh, gloat away, GLOAT

I don’t blame you.

It’s my own silly fault for giving in to it. Why I expected any sort of hope over experience I don’t know.

But my dilemma is still this.... for the last years, since I don’t know when, we’ve had a rubbish song so fair play for us getting no votes.

But I’d just like to know that even if we had the best song ever, would we still get nil points because everyone hates us anyway?

Just curious.

Had an absolute blast on Twitter last night, watching Eurovision and chatting along with everyone. Really felt like something we all needed after the last year. Love that a rock/metal band won!

Over the last few days we downloaded and watched all 6 episodes of The Pact.

Thought it was average, quite slow, 6 episodes could have been condensed down to 3 or 4.
Didn’t take to one of the lead actresses (Laura Fraser) she just seemed to have one facial expression (startled!).

Then I didn’t care for the way that the characters behaved (unrealistic).

Unsatisfactory ending, so all in all, just thought “well that’s 6 hours of my life that I won’t get back”.
