Back in time for Birmingham
Although I was born a Geordie, lived a few years in Stafford & other places, most of the 70's& 80's for me were spent in Coventry.
My nan owned a post office and general store and the neighbours that owned other businesses were Sikhs & Hindus, they welcomed us into their homes & family's & we had some of the very best times ever at their family celibrations... I'm sad to think that I remember nothing of the death of the death of Indira Gandhi or the Golden Temple, I would have only been 13 at the time, but strange to think we were such a close community, but I have no knowledge of these things...
