What can realistically be done with the old Co-Op?

It also may be why it's always under offer and never sold , they take one look at it, which is probably vastly different from the printed pictures, and run.

Who are the selling agents ?
The current to let board is Miller Sandy but it doesn't appear on their website anymore. The board has been up for years and has the 'Let' sign on it for yonks. Not really sure who would take it on as you'd need very deep pockets. Be interesting to know who actually owns the building, if it's still the Co Flop or a far flung pension fund based off shore!

I am pretty sure it was owned by the Co Op's pension fund years ago.

Plenty of land investments around. When I used to do weekend on-call work twice a year in Leeds I'd walk along the canal and back along the road. Tons of former industrial sites sitting there with a sign with a phone number on it to call for offers.

If you look at Detroit, a very run down city, but you won't find any land for sale. All bought up on cheap waiting for it to become valuable.

A source has told me both Game and sports direct are closing.

Game is moving into sports direct in the month , and sports direct is closing towards the end of the year for relocation into the Stafford Fraser's Department store, which is taking over the old co-op.

Make of it what you will, but seems semi likely.

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
Game in the Bullring Birmingham has closed and moved into the new Sports Direct on New Street so that move seems highly likely especially as Mike Ashley owns both companies.

It'll be good if it's true as the old Co-op will be bought back into action, but the place needs a lot of work doing to it, so I can see him dropping that idea pretty quickly.

If they do move, the downside is it'll create a further two empty properties and due to Woolworths sizable plot , it'll be hard to fill.

Exciting news about the former Co-op store. However, I'm surprised Game are relocating to the sports direct store. That's a huge store for them!

Just spoke to the guys in game and yes they are moving into sports direct by the end of the month.
They have heard that sports direct will move to Riverside (maybe the lambretta store) by the end of the year.

They have also heard that co-op are trying to buy the old building back.

This makes a lot more sense and sadly is another nail in the coffin for the north end of the high street.
