What I Did This Weekend - In Pictures!

First stage of an attempt to automate two of the conservatory windows. I wanted to create as little modification to the existing structure as possible, and there is only a single wallplug hole required.

I still have to sort out a 'bridle' to hold the four handles of the two upper windows and a con-rod.

But it can all come down again with no 'aftermath', if it is a failure.

Another day...

I finally got around to hanging some steel drawers I brought over last time. They carry some weight, big drills, taps and dies, etc and hanging them under the shelf uses the available space efficiently. I thought there were six pairs, but there's only five here, so there'll be a sub-shelf in the gap for now, or permanently, if there is only five...

With a good weight in each drawer, they are sitting on wooden beams, hanging on threaded rods at the front and sitting on brackets from the wall at the rear. They should be alright - I hope.

All being well I'll be there in September for the first time in eleven years.
I'm not sure about the rest of the week but most pubs were either shut or just about shut at 18.00 when we got back from the Superbikes on Sunday.

Google maps was wrong about the opening times on every single pub I looked at.

Had the pubs got word that you were on the way ? ( only joking )
I find the CAMRA WhatPub site quite reliable for opening times.

When we went to Norwich several years ago , with the lack of cider in most pubs ( apart from the real rough stuff) , I was asking for lager & lime......"Lime?????" " Lime Cordial" " Never heard of it" Every pub we asked for it they were looking as though I'd was asking for something never invented. One pub did actually give me lager with an actual slice of a Lime in. Had to resort to lager & lemonade for the week. Even tried to buy a bottle of Lime cordial in a supermarket, and hadn't got any. It was like I was in a different country!

Enjoyed that week though .

No pictures yet of my week away (as only know how to load from.my laptop, not my phone) but seaview from room today is a rather soggy dim & dismal one .

But in a fabulous hotel in Torquay, which WAS sunny yesterday but now been bucketing down since 7.30am and forecast in for the day . 😭 (And most annoyingly my ring doorbell at home shows a lovely dry morning)
