What I Did This Weekend - In Pictures!

Pictures to follow, but what started last weekend lasted well into this one. Operation lets pull up the carpet went downhill fast, to the point I've had to remove some of the original joists in the floor (from between the concrete?) because they were rotten. I've identified a damp patch near the front door that still needs rectifying, and I've partially rebuilt the living room floor using new joists laid across the old and some 22m chipboard. Nothing fixed in place yet as still to insulate, but my house is like a bomb site and covered in 70 years worth of dust and a deteriorated tanking layer from beneath the old floorboards.

Ever wish you'd not started something?

Had another pedal out this morning, just a 10 miler across into Devon horse shoeing around Tamar Lake country lanes. Stopped at this spot to take a pix of these wind turbines. When they were first proposed, must be well over 10 years ago now, I was in the pub one night and some locals came around with a petition to object to them. I politely refused to sign it which got me some dirty looks and niggly behaviour from said petitioners about how I didn't have to put up with the noise. (They're about 3 miles from my place, literally in the middle of nowhere.)
I told them if they were prepared to go to their consumer units at home, switch off their electricity and do without, I'd sign it. I got some quite nasty reactions to that. So I fell back on my Old Dear's words: 'Sod em I call em.' (The first word varied a bit.)
However, feeling I should check out their complaint at that time, after they went up I did pedal up to the same spot as I took this pix from this morning to see how noisy they were. This is about about 200 yards from the nearest one. Back then, all I could hear was gunfire from the clay pigeon shooters down in the valley on the right. Sounded a bit like 1920's Chicago on a bad day. I couldn't hear the windmills at all.
This morning it was quite breezy, so they were thumping away and I could hear a 'swish swish swish' quite plainly. But not a loud noise. They're all over the place now and I've never seen another petition or heard much in the way of complaints.

Didn't take any pictures but managed to lose my footing last night and fell breaking my shoulder.

Morning spent in Louth hospital and missed the Superbike racing today.

Not a happy bunny at the moment.

Yesterday started well with my first visit to watch the Villa in 18 months. After winning 2-0 the day took a bit of a downturn in the evening when some p@sshead decided to crash into my neighbours car & knock it into mine!.

Did said pisshead get apprehended?
Yes mate, he drove away from the scene but was swiftly located by Stafford's finest!. Blew 3x the legal limit back at the station, absolute disgrace. He has admitted to his crimes though (he was arrested at his address) & will face court in a couple of weeks. I got away with a few scratches on my rear bumper but it is likely the neighbour's car will be a write-off.

Thanks for all the messages.

I'm now back in Stafford waiting to be X-rayed again because they can't accept the X-rays from Louth hospital despite being able to see them clear as day on the computer. I've also got to go through A&E process before being allowed to go to Fracture clinic.

How inefficient is that.

Sounds about right for the NHS, whose sole aim seems be to waste as much of their customers time as possible. In a way it's quite reassuring that things are back to 'normal'.

Putting the "national" into NHS, eh?

Perhaps they should be renamed Notional Health Service. :)

To be fair all of the staff I've seen have been fantastic at both hospitals, it's just the processes that don't work well.
