DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE SQUEAMISH

Cut the grass last night. When I took the mower out of the shed I thought I saw a mouse scurry off. When I started the mower heard a bit of a crunch. Moved the mower to find some mouse entrails on the grass. Note to self, check the mower next time!

Rest in peace little buddy!

Enjoying a drop of red.
Putting the "national" into NHS, eh?

Perhaps they should be renamed Notional Health Service. :)

To be fair all of the staff I've seen have been fantastic at both hospitals, it's just the processes that don't work well.
The processes work as intended, I'm sure.

Didn't take any pictures but managed to lose my footing last night and fell breaking my shoulder.

Morning spent in Louth hospital and missed the Superbike racing today.

Not a happy bunny at the moment.
Omg :o sorry to hear that.
Hope you are on the mend soon and not in too much pain.
Just not what you need , hanging around A& E in Stafford starting from scratch again, when they've got all the notes and x-rays on hand already from Louth!
Hope it heals soon

Chose the wrong day to decide to visit Leicester Square and surrounding areas. Was going to get a photo of the demonstration going on , with hundreds of police in attendance blocking most routes through , but decided to leave the area instead incase it all kicked off.

Never seen so many police around , every other area had a massive uniformed presence as well as , I presume, plain clothed cops.
BUT...did find an nice old fashioned type pub and had a fantastic meal and drink before going around exploring .

Thanks for all the messages.

I'm now back in Stafford waiting to be X-rayed again because they can't accept the X-rays from Louth hospital despite being able to see them clear as day on the computer. I've also got to go through A&E process before being allowed to go to Fracture clinic.

How inefficient is that.
Be careful, or they might refer you to the department at the bottom of this sign.

There is an inevitable tendency for the Main Doors of the Shed to become a wall in the winter months, when opening them is far less required. This year, it has taken until today for the items that were being stored there (inside and out) to be sorted out into their next locations, so the door can be opened. This was a nice job for a day of 100% blazing Sun here.

I don't really need the second door to open, so that can remain as a wall for now.

It was very pleasant to work there, with the door open and the outdoor speakers on on such a warm, still evening.

It being another Mediterranean day here, activities have been a bit limited. I have finally got round to a job that has been annoying me for a few years.

This clock has an allegedly eight-day mechanism, but it only runs for a few hours either side of seven days. This leads to it stopping occasionally, if you rely on weekly winding. I have been partially winding it about half-way through each week. This happens for a few reasons - the mechanism is really intended for a grandfather sized case (I have one on the Big Island and that will run well into the ninth day), but this is a granddaughter case, so the available drop of the weights is much les. Another problem is that the full height is not available even then, the weights struck the case before reaching their potential highest point. Investigation revealed that a previous owner had moved the mechanism a few millimetres forward - putting it back made things a bit better and the full drop should run for about seven and a half days now. A small modification to the case may happen to make the whole thing a little better at some point - but, although it will be a small modification, it won't be a small job...

It's a nice clock that came via Katharine House - the yew finish is particularly attractive. The case was broken in half when I got it, although the fix is so invisible that I can't even see it myself now - and it made it a lot easier to transport here.

If it ever gets a defined final location, I might even construct a sub-floor box to get the full drop that the chains make available, but probably not.

In other activity, I have finally found a grave that I've been looking for for a while. I have had a few searches of likely locations, but without finding anything. The local underworld could not supply any information, which is odd - but, I can now see why. Anyway, they turned out to not be far away, in the end, but not in a place that I would have considered. A look around the internet last night produced a picture of another family gravestone, sixty miles away, which made reference to their location and a spin out there this morning produced a 'hit'.

What-the-be-jesus is the strappy thing hanging to the left of the clock?

Decided to go for some more 'shenanigans' on the roof. A small stub active receiving aerial. Active means it has an amplifier built into the aerial head (right up at the top end of the feeder is an ideal place.) This means feeding a DC voltage up the feeder to power the amp. Bit of ladder work and leaning out to get the home made mount up onto fixings already in place.
Probably should have chosen a time later in the day, as this faces East and I got a bit baked by the Sun, shining like there's no tomorrow.

Then I connected it all up and plugged it into the receiver. Quite pleased with it, when comparing it to an online SDR site in Holland. Pulling in the same signals as shown below, these are digital signals called FT8 on the HAM bands. My noise floor is a fair bit higher the Wide-band WebSDR in Enschede, the Netherlands (utwente.nl) which might be due to the Inverter for the Solar Panels in the loft. The website SDR above and my receiver below showing identical frequencies.

My receiver (ANNAN 100D)

The signals look a bit different because I set my receiver displays up a little differently. The Utwente receiver doesn't show a spectrum display but a waterfall only.

I haven't run the tiller through the fallow plots for a while, the grass has slowed down and these marigolds have been making an effort to take over the world. I've pulled out the odd less 'worthy' species and let these carry on. They will shade out most other stuff now and it can all be chopped in later in the year.

The third plot has different, earlier, marigolds going on in it and they are going to seed now.
