What I Did This Weekend - In Pictures!

Thank you both xx
The floor under the boards wasn't exactly dry. I put a new waterproof coating on the concrete but it didn't take too well, and as I'd already found a hole that went down to soil I was very wary of doing much more to it. I've never heard of concreting between joists before, it appears they just threw a wooden frame down and poured it in around it? So when I got the gas pipe fixed that I went through (oops) I decided to put a new waterproof layer down before putting my new joists in, with stainless steel screws just in case. The silver is both insulation and a second vapour barrier, and is fully taped accordingly. The grey is a high tog polystyrene I got from a factory in Birmingham, then finally 22m moisture resistant chipboard on top. There is yet to be added a final layer of underlay, with it's own moisture barrier built in, and then the LVT flooring (laminate but sorta plastic).

In all its cost near to £40/sqm and a hell of a lot of time to do, but it's going to be warmer saving me money in the long run and will be much easier to clean as we can set the robot vacuum on it!

As everyone knows, I am as far from technically minded as you can get.
What's a DPM?

Also, Disruptive Pattern Material, but that seems unlikely in this application.

For those who didn't get it ... the post is of a camouflage jacket. Soldiers wear camouflage jackets in order not to be seen, so .... :|

hmmmm ... hmmmm ....

OK ya got me ... it's a fair cop. The joke sucks. :P

Got the train into Brum today to do some shopping. Haven't been for a good while, don't think we will be rushing back either!. Train was £25 & most of the shops we used to go in have either closed or gone downhill. There was one hell of a party going on though, we had completely forgotten it was Gay Pride too (even though the company I work for had a float in the parade & has been publicising it for weeks!). Fair play though, fantastic to see folks enjoying themselves after the trials & tribulations of the pandemic.

I know it's not the weekend, but when you're retired, everyday is the weekend. :P

Just got back from the Radio Officers Association jolly in Southsea. Crappy drive up in rain and wind, but yesterday the Sun came out in Southsea.

Walked around the Portsmouth Naval Museum and got to play with valves on the submarine HMS Alliance.

Stayed in a plush hotel on the front, good food and probably too much drinking:

Drove back today and pretty much rained all the way. Popped into Barnstaple Hospital to give a blood sample and then no trouble getting the car filled up and finally arrived home and indulged in a Chinese takeaway (conveniently round the corner from my place.)
All in all a good couple of days

Got no chance of pictures, cos I never took any.

But this weekend I went to a Hen do. One of the nurses at work is getting married next May, and I was one of the lucky ones invited to the before celebrations.
Held at Shinington Manor, (Link below) on the shore of Carsington Water. We had the stables, while another group had the Manor House (noisy gits they were too). For some reason my satnav wouldn't accept the post code, so I drove there blind. Tiny bit of help from one of the others, but I got there all on me tod. Wasn't cheap, but how the other half live! Hot tub(gorgeous), swimming pool - too blooming cold use, though the noisy gits all jumped in.
Had a lovely time, but back down to earth with a bump, work this afternoon. Roll on the wedding.
