What the duck??

I've been given a great big, preboned duck, stuffed with pork and red berries from M&S, and am cooking for about 8 people tomorrow night. Having not really cooked duck before, i'm at a loss as to what veg would be a good accompaniment. Bearing in mind the amount of people, does anyone have any suggestions? Chips isn't an option.

Greeting Andreas. May the Force be with you.

I believe a good accompaniment to Duck, particularly with the sweet taste of red berries, are Leeks. Simply boiled.
Along with Carrots, with a smidgeon (i believe thats how you spell it) of butter and a dash of orange juice (just a dash), and Mashed Potato with some Parsnip added to it (also mashed obviously, and a little cream and butter), season to taste.

Make sure you get all the juices from the meat, and a little of the water from the veg to use in the gravy.

I ate these sumptuous delights on Alderaan, we had Banther meat instead, which is quite similar to duck.

In fact I remember the meal well, it was while I was training as Jedi, still a young man, the dream of the Republic was st...

Excellent stuff Obi. Will probably go with most of what you've suggested. I'll try to get Banther meat next time, but think i'll have to go further afield than M&S!

Hehe. The G-Unit can be very entertaining, and he can be pretty handy in the kitchen too. You should have demanded a meal.

Last night we had a beef/red wine stew, and sweet potato cooked with lime. I wasn't looking forward to the sweet potato bit cos it just sounded a bit weird to cook with citrus, but to my elation it was absolutely gorgeous! I'll see if i can find it.

From what I've seen on the telly, a nice berry accompaniment might go down well.
It's already got berries in it, innit, and i'm not the biggest fan of fruit with meat in the first place.

Steady Dizirt. I'll have you know that my thai green curry is the talk of Castletown and beyond. People just keep coming back for more. I'm no Jamie Oliver just yet but i have invested in some new cookware and i'm also integrating the word 'pukka' into my vocabulary!

I'm sure by the time the next bbq season comes around (only a matter of weeks now!!) you will see a marked improvement at my legendary beer and meat gatherings. I have come to appreciate that some people like a bit of meat with their charcoal. Fair enough. Hell i may even knock up a salad!

Sorry mate, obviously didn't read the post proper like. Ignore me berries.

Hows about a nice pair of plums or a couple of melons?
