Yesterday we tried the local Chinese takeaway - I'd heard terrible reviews so was expecting much but I needed hot food and was willing to give it a whirl!

So glad I did! It was YUMMY!! Although it now means we'll be eating a lot more takeaways...

Tonight pie & mash! I'm having the last slice of frozen Wellington I made for fake Christmas!

Sounds quite 'interesting'.

Yesterday was chippy tea as it was the Carers turn to cook.... And he didn't want to!

Tonight it's Pasta American (pasta, bacon, all the veg I can find (onion, celery, peppers, courgettes, mushrooms & tomatoes) , and spicy chilli tomato sauce). With cheesy garlic bread.

Bought on-line by an old school friend, she took the opportunity to buy 6 pots and passed one my way this afternoon.

"Catchment area: NW Atlantic" which is surely off the coast of North America so they're only "MORCAMBE BAY POTTED SHRIMPS" in the sense that they're put in that pot near Morcambe Bay.
There is a Morecambe in Alberta, but the sea is even further away there than it is at 'our' Morecambe when the tide's out.

Today I joined 11 othher colleagues at The Dog & Doublet to say tara to one of our favourite nurses. She's finally retiring at the grand age of 63. Wants to spend a bit of time with the grandkiddies before it's too late - her words not mine.
We had a lovely spread, staff were friendly and not over the top in your face.
Spent 2 hours there, most of that was us all just having a natter. 4th or 5th time I've been now, never disappointed, that I can remember.

I remember the Dog and Doublet only having a six day license as the Earl of Harrowby didn't want anyone enjoying themselves on a Sunday.
Now baronet's daughter Theodora Clarke, best known for her occasional photo opportunities in and around Stafford, is marrying the Earl of Harrowby's stepson Henry Coram-James.

I was trying for the life of me to remember where the Dog and Doublet was. I remember the Dog and Partridge, and The Dog and Rabbit but not this one. So I Googled it and sure enough it popped out of my memory. Go past Pea Hill (where there used to be bike scrambling many Moons ago) and it's on the right as you hit the A51.

Ah yes, Proper Pubs the Dog and Partridge and Dog and Rabbit were, not to mention the Prince Albert very near the Dog and Rabbit.

I went to The King's Horse. Food was okay for what it was but it was all about catching up with friends.
