where is good for ear piercing?

my brother is getting married in 7 weeks and I've just found out the bride has had ear rings specially made for me for it.

I don't have my ears pierced...

however I have been thinking about doing it for some time and am partly thinking "what the hell! - do it" partly thinking "ahhh!"

so... if I do get brave enough this weekend (because I don't do it this weekend they won't be ready for the wedding) where is good for studs?

I was going to go to ambiance but I've just been told they have a bad reputation with the gun piercings... I don't know how reliable the source is though...

Earrings are not my specialist subject, but I understand that clip-on hangers are available to adapt unpierced ears to wear earrings intended for pierced ears - those in the know might actually know if this is true..

I have found some on Amazon - they are called "converters" apparently. I might go for these if I wimp out but if I don't I want to know I'm going somewhere good!

I did see ear piercing advertised in The Beauty Room, Wolverhampton Road (Above the old Peter Cooks chemist) when I was last in there. Don't know anyone who has had them done there though.

When I had mine done years ago (The jewellers in the arcade by the old market hall- remember it well as I ended up passed out on the floor) I had to wait 6 weeks before taking those ones out .

I know a few people who have had their ears pierced at Claires Accessories. They don't appear to have had any problems. I had mine pierced back in the day when Jewelers were able to do it. Think I had them done at F Hinds.

I don't have any experience of ear piercings at Ambiance but I did have my ears pierced there when I was 15. It was the first time I ever gave into peer pressure (all my friends had it done). I never had any issues. We are going back 10 years now though so things may have changed ...

I had mine done there on my 11th birthday, it were called Mann the Jewellers. I remember the name so well, because I ended up going there twice, the silly mare that pierced my left ear did it wonky. She sprayed it with what I assume to be a freezing spray, then pushed a flippin great needle thru my lobes, it didn't half hurt. My mum had 1 hell of a job trying get my sleepers in for me.

I saw f hinds doing someone elses once and they seemed ok. I feel at 26 im a little too old to go to claires (I'd just feel weird!). Does anyone know if you have to book in advance or can just turn up? I have no experience in these things!

My little girl had hers done at ambiance, she hasnt had any probs but was s*%t scared of the heavily pierced and tattooed gent holding the gun...Almost left with just the one ear done.

I took daughter 1 and only to Ambiance to have her belly button pierced, many moons ago, after an initial few problems it healed fine, I also had a part of my body pierced by the same bloke (Kevin the owner), and again, after the settling down period all was ok.
I don't know why tho, can't say I fancy having my next tattoo done there.

Avoid anywhere that pierces ears using a gun. Piercing should be done with a needle and everything properly sterilised. It is worth seeking out a reputable piercing studio and I certainly wouldn't touch anywhere like Claires with a barge pole. If Ambiance use a gun then wouldn't go there either. I don't know anywhere in Stafford but Vivid Ink in Sutton or Birmingham are extremely good.

I think Ambience do the first hole in the ears with the gun, any after that have to be by needle, I may not be right. Body piercing is all done by needle, youngest has just said when he had his lip pierced, Kevin shoved a needle straight thru, no freezing used.
