ive gone with northern lights too as its the place that i have had the best fish from....but this was when i worked there and would only get it if a certain lady cooked it as she did it to perfection.

Don't use chippys that often but when I do it's either Chris Fish Bar or Sandon Road next to the Princess.
Think Sandon Road's got the edge as they do mixed kebab meat & chips, at Chris Fish Bar it's one or t'other.

I disagree, the Sandon Road one was awesome when I was growing up (Oxford Gardens) but after it changed to Fish Bar 2000 or whatever it seemed to go downhill. My personal favourite is Chris Fish Bar and they will do a mixed meat and chips if you ask them.

Disappointed not to see the Windmill in the list too, there will be mutiny amongst the Castletown massive, I tell thee!

I'm not a massive fan of the Windmill...very variable quality. Chris Fish Bar for me.

+1 for Windmill last time I called there my mate had fish which was decidedly off and ended up in the bin.

I was talking about the Windmill with some friends last night and one of them said "They must be good as they always get the 'Best Chip Shop in Stafford' award and have the banner up with 'Signal 1's Ray Crowther says it's ace' or whatever."

Ray Crowther hasn't been at Signal for ages (AFAIK), and they put the banner up periodically to try and get more business!

It's a hard, fast paced game, this chip business. You got to get an edge somehow, why not revive some decade old awards :P

i don't mind the windmill chippy, but then again i'm a battered sausage/pukka pie chap, so can't comment on their fish..

the one on westway is the best imo.. massive portions and decent prices..

Weston road every day of the week.

The man knows his chips, fish, batter, his curry sauce has the perfect amount of butter added and the most important one if you are a repeat customer he sorts you out.

However here in stafford we do not have access to what iI would call a proper chippy. For these i have been known to sign myself up for a day out at Ikea with the missus just so i can visit a "proper Chippy".

Praise the lord for the "yellow chip" mmmmmmm!

My all time fave was Middletons, Church Street, Darlaston. (no link found!)

A chip shop somewhere in the galaxy that no one from stafford has ever visited........yet......

In which case parkway fishbar, parkstone, poole, dorset. Best chippy I have ever been to. If you go in the early evening you get freshly caught fish, and it's delicious. Although you pay for it!
