Who's had a rubbish day?

I'm getting to the stage when I wake up in the morning and immediately think: 'Wow, I'm still here !! So the day isn't going to be rubbish.'

However, that's often the highlight of the day !!

I’m sorry to hear that.

Thank you.

I should say, we were fortunate that although it was a "covid funeral" it wasn't a covid death so we were able to do a little more than we might have been able to otherwise with 30 mourners at the service, albeit no wake of course.

I thought it would be great getting lambs, literally jumped at the chance rather naively yes I’ll take the two big strong ones you told me about and sod it, yeah let’s have two two small sickly looking ones as well, that was a mistake!

Today has been spent painstakingly trying to keep a lamb warm that cannot or will not retain heat, said lamb also cannot or will not drink, or even stand now.

kids decided to pick favourites, both of them opting to devote all of their time and attention on said small sickly looking lamb with chesty breathing and problem with its back legs, they have called her Hermione and I’ve just had to inform them Hermione is unlikely to survive the night.

I’m gutted, it’s ridiculous how loveable they are and how quickly we’ve fallen in love with them all, they have personalities and quirks, they’re like puppies following us round and loving a fuss.

I wasn’t completely blinkered coming into this, I talked to the kids about them going back to the farm, how the ladies will have lambs next year and how our lovely frank might be destined for a different path, I explained that Cade lambs by nature tend to not survive long and they listened and they ignored me, they are devastated and I’ve totally failed in my aim to give them a beautiful experience.

Unfortunately we lost her overnight.

To make matters worse I’m waiting for my eldest to get off the school bus to then rush and meet hubby at the vets with the dog, it’s not looking good. Not sure I can take much more.

Oh @Bob

My heart goes out to you. A big virtual hug coming your way.
It’s so sad when this happens to a pet, they are so much a part of the family, it’s heartbreaking to lose them.

He’s having tests, waiting for the vet to call, they’ve found a ‘sizeable’ mass near his liver that wasn’t there 5 months ago when he had a check up. :(

So sorry to hear that. :(
Hoping it is operable if needed @Bob and he goes on to live many more happy years yet.

Piskie our 3 legged rescue Piskie dog had numerous ops to remove cancerous nasties during her 16+ years with us. But our vets worked wonders on her each time .

Fingers crossed your vet can work wonders on your little lad.

So sorry to hear the poor little lamb didn't make it. Well done for you for doing your best for her and the other sickly lamb, as well as the healthy ones.

( In tears for you here , that's why hubby won't let me have another dog)
