Who's had a rubbish day?

We should start a thread about who has had the most rubbish day!

I accidentally discovered that Stafford Borough Council have extracted almost £500 from my bank account without bothering to tell me.

I spent half an hour on an international phone call arguing with them and was promised a call back.

Nobody called.

If it's by direct debit, tell your bank and get them to sort it. It's what the DD guarantee is for.

Bye bye £500.
Unless you're VERY persistent with them.
Good luck.

It might be worth going for a walk, if you're able. My dad who is in his 80s has managed to up his distance by walking every day, and it'd definitely helped him.
Thanks.
Yes, I had a nice walk over Beacon Hill to Hopton Pools earlier in the week but it's not the same keeping away from everyone.

You are allowed to go for a walk with one other person as long as you don't get too close to them.
Thanks.
But mindful all the time of keeping a distance detracts from the informality and pleasure of going for a walk ( and there's no pubs for refreshment along the way ).

Glad your dad is managing to get out @Lucy . And you @Mudgie . Sounds like a nice country walk.

I've always walked a lot , but finding it most stressful at the moment having to keep crossing over and dicing with death walking amongst the traffic , to try to social distance from everyone . OK , I don't mind the other actual walkers/ runners/ cyclists / dog walkers , that are just doing what I'm doing and going out for exercise and abiding to the rules.

It's the other groups of oldies /walkers/cyclists / mums with pushchairs with loads of kids who have obviously arranged to meet up with their mates for something to do each day , and blocking the footpaths whilst having a good old natter. I've even looped around and passed them about an hour later still there !
I gave up walking and turned back after a few minutes the other day , after encountering a group with 7 pushairs not wanting to move over so that I could avoid getting mowed down by passing traffic.
Pretty sure they couldn't have all met by chance on their walks...
No good for my already high blood pressure, so decided to probably abandon my walks for a while .:(

I'm planning on going for a walk in Stafford with a friend this week, I'll be sure to avoid Wildwood!

My Aunt died this morning, she was diagnosed with cancer last Sunday after being taken into hospital. I have a very large extended family but growing up she and her family was the only part of it who ever bothered with me. I spent weeks, if not months in her care during my Dad's illnesses. I found out on a Facebook post as my Mom hadn't gotten around to ringing me as it was fairly early. At least they did call her before they posted.
So today can just sod off.

My sources on Wildwood tell me that 8-10am and after 7pm are the two times for a hassle-free walk around Wildwood. Fewer people about and more Covid-savvy in terms of staying out of your way.

I'm not sure where you walk or which bit of Stafford you are in but it's very easy to get to a public footpath across the boring fields that surround Stafford while the cows are locked up inside. I like the walk from North end up through Creswell, across the fields to Seighford and either back round via the bridleways or across more fields to Doxey. There are similar walks off Beaconside, from Baswich and western downs. I'd advise never going near the canal tow path, or any of the disused railway lines around town atm where people are social distancing morons :(

That’s true.

I quite often take the dog for a walk round Wildwood park, start at one end, loop once round by the field, then past the swings, up the other end round past the allotments. Sometimes go past the nature reserve.
I’d say 10.00 am is about the time I go and there's hardly anyone else there.

Occasionally see other walkers but there’s so much room to veer off in another direction without going near anyone else.
