Wanted Windscreen wiper rubbers.

I think they do the newer bends arm things as well as the metal arm. I always use the standard metal arm (older) type and think they're great. They come with various clips included to make them fit pretty much every car wiper arm. All you need to know is the correct length of blade you require.

Had a look in Wilko's - not short enough and not long enough - otherwise, they look OK.
That has surprised me. I've always found them to have every length I've needed apart from on one car, and even then I realised that the one's fitted were not the correct size anyway so was able to go back again as they did have the correct size.

The shortest they had was 16" - mine has two 14" ones - I'll investigate if an extra inch at each end is viable, but I don't want to go shorter on the big one that I actually look through most.

They used to stock 14", so must either be out of stock or starting to phase the less common smaller ones out. I wouldn't personally buy 16" ones in your case, as they'll probably catch somewhere they shouldn't.

There was no 'empty hook'.

I might well get away with it at the back, an extra inch towards the pivot is no harm, as long as the extra inch on the outside doesn't hit anything.

At the front I also have to consider the blades clashing - but, it may be possible to go longer there, too - we'll see.

Enjoying a drop of red.
If you're happy with the level of coverage your existing wiper lengths are giving you then I'd just stick to replacing the rubbers.
