In a weird way that will be good, if you can't make deductions that put people below minimum wage it's another illegal activity to add!

Apparently she never even finished her training, it gets worse...
They are clearly scam artists trying to bluff it out, on the standard con-man basis that people will give up and write off their losses.

I've sent a few messages today, on the advice of ACAS, just a few questions to the people who inspect these people. Waiting to hear back til I launch an offensive, always best to hold all the cards
Good on ya! Minime is lucky, I know she's the same age as your stepdaughter, she's at 6th form but also working for a large supermarket (not mine) and gets £10.00+ ph, some if her friends have other jobs where they are only earning around £4.10 ph!

Hope she finds something better. Supermarkets pay the same rate for teens as they do for adults and most supermarkets are crying out for casual staff if she's looking. We're coming up to Christmas to they will be looking right now, tesco is great for dot.com jobs (it's a early start but they're flexible with other hours). I imagine Asda, Sainsburys and M&S are similar .....

There's always someone ready to take your job & to step into your shoes, remember that you're not indispensable, your work does not NEED you....but your family do.

I learned this a little late.
This.

My job consumed my entire life and I needed a change.

I've gone back into education but I make a point of leaving in the bell every. single. day.

I'm the only one that does it but I refuse to bow to the culture of working every hour of the day.

I've had a day from hell today, everyone should have to do a year I retail to see just how horrible & abusive customers can be.

I'm sure the persons involved have now plastered it all over social media, as well as reporting my actions to head office. But hey how, another day, another dollar. SSDD, back to do it all again tomorrow.

My wife comes home with all sorts of horror stories that either her or the girls have experienced in one or other of the shops.

I'm now in the very fortunate position that I can choose very carefully who I work for and if I don't like someone I won't do business with them. Takes much of the stress out of life.

No one should have to hold it together at work, get home & tell their partner what happened then spend the next hour sobbing. Its just a god damn job. People are vile.

Just wanted to follow this up with some info I've received back from a few places. On the actual role side of things apparently it is legal to send an under 18 out lone working in a home visit care environment even if not formally trained as long as the employer has 'assessed their competence'. There is guidance on how it is recommended this competence is assessed but that is in no way a requirement just a guide, while they wouldn't say pointing said young person at an online resource then expecting them to have completed it in their own time is acceptable they did say they only offer guidance and it is up to the employer themselves.

ACAS on the other hand said several clear breaches of employment law, should be very straightforward.

So, just a heads up, if any of you require in house care for relatives make sure you know exactly what you're paying for. You might think you're getting qualified healthcare staff, but you could just get some untrained 17 year olds.
