Worst Pot Holes in Stafford.

I have started driving through Weston to avoid them. It's a nice little detour that doesn't add anything to the journey time

Would you feel so happy if your road turned in to a rat run for motorists avoiding pot holes, or just looking to save a few secs on their journey?

Technically it adds approximately 6 seconds on to the journey so not really a saving unless you count reduced repair costs.
It Wouldn't bother me in the slightest it's a public road so anybody can drive or park on it and they do.

There is no such thing as a ‘rat run’ - just roads which people are allowed to drive on.
But isn't it thoughtful for traffic to stay on main roads so that residential areas can be safe for children to play out and people to enjoy more peaceful times? Residential roads shouldnt be diversion routes for traffic that should be on a main road just because they are there. That's why the council diverts traffic along roads of the same classification when setting up diversions.

I suspect those who think all roads are equal live in cul de sacs and don't have their lives blighted by speeding and noisy traffic night and day.

It would be thoughtful for residents not to park on pavements. Not only do they cause obstruction to road users, who are perfectly entitled to use public roads but way more importantly to pavement users (you know, adults, kids, the disabled etc etc) who need to use footpaths.

I think Alliance Street is a prime example of that. Some of its residents really need to get over themselves.

I don't live in a cul-de-sac and, at times, there are drivers racing up and down the road. It's not something I can do anything about unfortunately. If I complained to the Police, I am sure I would just get laughed at.

I do think in the case of Weston, it's not particularly a huge issue as the Council have already installed speed humps and most people would drive the other way to miss them.

But yes, consideration to others would go a long way and in reality, most people actually are considerate of others. It's always the minority which cause problems for the majority.

Children playing out in the road... 🤔 Surely they should be playing in gardens, parks etc.
