I'll have the entire council's balls at the top of the Riverside offices flagpole when I take over.

Now of course when it was the Colloseum of course it was great !

then it got burned down didnt it !

Did they ever catch who did that ? Or was it really just an "accident/insurance job" ?
It was the colosseum again after it got rebuilt, became Zanzibar in late 2000.

As for the fire, I don't know for definate but as I knew a lot of the staff at the time its probably true. The insurance hadn't been upped to reflect the refurb, they lost loads. It started in one of the flats upstairs, either an electrical fire or a fag. We think it was a fag in the ashtray TBH. Could be why they didn't add the flats again when rebuilding.
Found this picture on stafford past track introduced as after the fire at Fatty Arbuckles it must have been some humdinger of a fire, the whole top floor is missing!

lol i heard something along those lines too! The parrot used to live down in Fatty Arbuckles if i remember rightly? I certainly saw it down there once or twice anyway.

Who remembers Fatty's on a Sunday night?? A bit of Karaoke, A top DJ phoning up locals and playing prank calls at them over the loudspeakers etc?
It used to a be my favourite ever night out in Stafford.

I worked there about '92 to 2000, with 2 1 year breaks for good behaviour. Sure wasn't my best night out!
