Probably the above.......
Was Mr Owen quite a well built man who never actually got in the water?
Indeed he was, he taught us to swim 60/61......
Taught me aswell, scared the life out of me, but he taught me to swim! In the little pool in the back. Couldn't believe that folks used to use the Brine Bath to hire a bath, and towel, as they didn't have one at home! Ooop North end, we was posh, used to have our own, 'oop stairs', Sunday night was oblusions, ready for school; and we used to get out of the Brine Baths Swimming Pool to go for a pea!

That could almost be the definition of posh.

Q: Do you get out of the pool to go for a pee?
A(1): Of course, what kind of scumbag do you think i am?
A(2): Uh? It's all water innit?

Excellent. What sort of chap do you remember him as?
Mr Owen is the only face that I remember from my school days. I used to be petrified of the water and can always remember when I was supposed to be trying to swim across the width of the small pool ,around the back, and thought I could fool him by swimming with one foot still on the bottom of the pool lol. Can still hear him bawling at me to this day!
And the time I dived in the deep end for my green badge and had to be fished out with that great big hook thing.

I used to forge letters from my parents on swimming days '......... can't go swimming today, she has a cold, been sick etc'

You remember that fantastic little ironmongers on Weeping Cross shops where you could pop in if you only wanted 1 nail. Great place that.
I did buy one nail from there and got the bloke to put my dad's numberplate back onto the car for me before I got back home. I'd knocked it off as I drove over the hydraulic jack in the little tyre garage on the corner of Park Street/Wolverhampton road

I used to walk all the way home slapping my thighs ....... The town pageants/processions (whatever you call them now) are not a patch on those days.

I used to work in The Old Hough , and one saturday morning when working overtime, we went exploring around the big old house and found a door leading to some hidden corridors behind the walls. There was lots of the pageant floats stuff stored behind there.

Did there used to be a little Woolworths store just to the right of the guildhall market square entrance that only sold food? Or did I dream it?

Can't remember whether it was a Woolworths, but I seem to remember some sort of store there. The magistrates court used to be above it.

....You remember the Roller Skating Hall , somewhere near Gaol Square

.... The cake shop in Gaol square which used to do easter eggs really nicely iced with your name and flowers, chicks etc

No to the roller skating hall.
Vaguely to the cake shop.
But then again skating and caking have never been my 'thing'.

Yes it was Woolworths, it had a big sweet counter along the right hand side and an exit at the top right into the market,
and most embarrassingly for a 6/7 years old boy all "women's stuff" at the top end.

Ahh the rollers skating hall in Patrick's st, now a car park for the booze shop, round the hall at top speed and into the changing room at the top end, up the stairs to the stage and a bottle of pop and crisps,
hire some skates that almost fit, (ignoring the smell of them) and skate to "Carolina moon keeps shining" many happy Saturday mornings spent there.

Enjoying a drop of red.
...You remember Jenkinson's Deli and self-service restaurant. If you were really posh there was a waitress serve bit as well I think.

And Timothy Whites?
