The group merged with Boots opticians some time ago. The chap who had the D&A franchise now runs Boots opticians in town and took all his staff with him. He also has an opticians in Rugeley, for anyone feeling adventurous.

Feck! should have got me eyes tested before I retired from the Fire Service as they used to have the contract with them fore eye tests! (Gratitude! D&A helped sort yours out post accident(?), referring you to Wolverhampton, and for free, you ancient git! Shame they couldn't do the same for your noodle! :ohno: Ed )

Guildhall staff were clearing out food which had been left in the freezers since the closure, the smell was ripe to say the least.

Gosh, really? I've got frozen stuff that moved house with me.

I take very little notice of use-by dates. If it isn't actually fermenting then it's fine. Although there have been a couple of soups I was forced to bury.

Agree entirely, I cooked some lamb racks from mid 2011 the other week and they were some of the tastiest meat lollipops I've ever eaten. Use by I (mostly) pay attention to, best before is best ignored.

Is Independant Gas Services , opposite the Grapes, still going?
I went to call in on Saturday morning as I was passing and it was all closed up. Rang them Monday and it went to answerphone saying to leave message and they will call back. Still waiting .....

I noticed as I drove past there this morning that they had an 'open' sign in their doorway, for what it's worth.

The name Alfro appears on a print-out on the front door of what was PAWS-4-THOUGHT, on the row of Weston Rd shops.

Pizza/takeway place, i think.

Yeah, me too, but had never heard that Pizza Hut did such a franchise, now there's the Alfro sign aswell as.
Be open soon enough, hope they do skinny fries.

I noticed that Haych's corner shop / off-licence on Greyfriars was shuttered-up just now - maybe it's not worth opening in the day-time?
