Saw a car and cyclist collide head on yesterday, around 5.30pm between Weeping Cross and Wildwood, cyclist was okay, loads got out of their cars to check if he was okay, young driver of small Vauxhall (i think) checked as well, seemed all okay, cyclist carried on towards town

Being a cyclist at the moment with all the traffic isn't something I'd choose to do, although probably a quicker mode of transport ppl are frustrated and impatient and stood bumper to bumper, it would be easy to not see an on coming cyclist with all the chao

Problem with a lot of modern cars is (and this is no excuse) the instrument panels are illuminated day and night, also they may be fitted with bright day running lights which when sat in traffic may appear that your lights are on. I cycled past a Fiesta in last nights usual Lichfield Road fun, and there was a Fiesta with no rear lights on, but the dash brightly lit and front lights on.
Hubby didn't realise that the automatic day time lights on our new car, that are on all the time, don't include the rear lights . Those day time lights really light up the garage doors and driveway when it's dark and the reversing lights light up the driveway behind , so would be so easy to drive away thinking the lights are on.I always check the position of the light switch on starting off as the dashboard is constantly lit up. In all our other cars the dash has only been lit up when the normal lights are on (first time I've ever had daylight lights)
Obviously he would be shook up, but hope the cyclist was ok and no injuries.

This morning while running a work mate home after a night shift. We were stopped at 'those lights' in Corporation Street, that most people seem to get confused by. When the car in front of us - a Black Mercedes A140, Reg no - W 844 TBD, suddenly pulled off at the red light. The lights for Crooked Bridge road/ Prospect Road had just gone to green. We followed him/her as far as the Windmill roundabout and he/she/it went off round Tenterbanks. What a knob!

Nearly got taken out on Asda car park yesterday by a van which completely ignored the clearly marked pedestrian crossing, going through at a fair old speed even though I was already on it, before swinging round and parking (badly) in a parent/child bay, even though they clearly didn't have a child with them

My Dad (who's in his 70's) had to give me (I'm in my 40's) a lift not long ago, he drove straight into the parent/child bay in the car-park ...

"You can't park here" I said.
"Yes I can" he said, "I'm with my child".

I couldn't think of an argument to that!

This morning a middle aged woman driving a silver Mercedes (BJ5 ??) drove through a red light near to the Island Restaurant and heading towards the old library. She was so late driving through the red light that she almost caused a collision with those vehicles driving along the Wolverhampton Road near TK Maxx.

The woman was completely oblivious to what she had done.

I'm a cyclist, always cycle to work, but found my front tyre flat yesterday as I was due to leave for work so had to drive. It's madness. I have no idea why people who live in the town environs do any car journey at busy times. Why would ayone put themselves through that every day! Anyway, I digress. I'd like to congratulate the absolutely MORONIC cyclist who not only had no lights on his bike at 7:45 this morning while it's dawn and raining, but who then went straight across the lights at the cross roads of Holmcroft Road and the A34 when they were on red. He compounded his utter stupidity by careering into the middle of the road whilst looking behind him and was only just inches away from being flattened by my nice shiny new car. I really don't want cyclist blood on my bonnet, but this d*ckhead deserved to be my trophy kill for the day. And I'm a cyclist!!!

I know how wide my car is, but it seems everybuggerelse seems to think they are driving something the width of a Saracen. Why the hell crawl through a "narrow gap" when everyone else can see that you have at least a foot and a half clearance on each side?

Anyway... this time of year is not good for me and cyclists.
Five years ago in November some twonk went bouncing over my bonnet from the side and tried to blame me, even though I was stationary in a queue.
Last year I got knocked off my feet by one and broke my leg.
Yesterday one tried to get between my car and the kerb, while I was parked. Unlike some, you can only measure the distance between my wheels and the kerb with a micrometer, so why Johnny-TwoWheels though he could get that way is a mystery. I just wish I'd left the AudiCam running.

I nearly had one in the wolverhampton road the other morning he was hardly moving so his lights were hardly shining it was raining and he had dark clothes on. I only use the car around stafford if I need to but I wouldn't be brave enough to travel by cycle on the roads these days I've seen too many close shaves on the A449 with lorries having to pull out into the outside lane suddenly nearly causing an accident because of a cyclist suddenly appears and cars having to break behind them because they're wearing clothes so dark and have poorly lit bikes.

Or didn't care there's an old lady who drives around who doesn't stop at roundabouts she doesn't seem to either know you're suppose to give way or she doesn't give a dam, but either way she just doesn't look, twice I've met her on the same mini roundabout and had to break sharply

Also sounds like the woman who had a go at my husband after he told her she was driving the wrong way round the one way part of Lidl car lark... older with lots of blonde hair piled ontop of her head...

I used to think running red lights was a generational thing - young drivers doing it. Now, everybody seems to be doing it.

Jumping a red light rarely saves any time because the traffic lights should be synced, therefore, if you jump one the next set of lights will still stop you. However running a red light is dangerous and stupid! ,I really wish cameras were fitted to traffic lights and fines issued for offenders.

I noticed that the new traffic lights that have been put up exiting M5 Jct 7 (the one island that always used to keep moving before some idiot decided to stop the flow with the bright idea of traffic lights....) have got metal strips going across the road after the lights, so wondering if those are to catch red light jumpers.

I felt the same, if ever a roundabout didnt need lights it was that one.
