Wolverhampton Road Surgery

Is anyone else having trouble with Wolverhampton Road Surgery?

I keep getting messages left for me about having to make an urgent appointment, but when I finally get through to them they seem to know nothing about it and say they are booked up for the next three weeks or so.

The medical staff are all fine, just the admin process seems utterly screwed.

Have you had some tests recently ? It's a bit worrying for that to happen makes you wonder if someone's got hold of your contact details !

I find this surgery infuriating, I can never get an appointment with the Dr I need to see, (to save me having to relay my whole sorry saga repeatedly every time I go), and even seeing a Doc I don't know I have to wait 3 weeks. They don't seem to care about continuity of care, they really do just fire and forget. It's like they tolerate your presence but can't wait to get you out the door, and I do have a genuine medical condition, I'm no time waster!!

So without going in to a full length rant, can anyone recommend a GP surgery where a routine appointment doesn't involve a 3 week wait, and that has GPs who aren't so jaded that they are on automaton mode? I'm considering moving to Holmcroft but if the patient experience is like at Wolverhampton Road they won't be that much point!! :(

Cheers

I've always been happy with Mill Bank although I haven't had any need to go there for about a year. I've always been able get a same day appointment and all the doctors seem very pleasant.

Remember those quotes "the NHS is safe in our hands" and "we are all in it together". ?

... Well, this is what was voted for.

I went to see 1 of the Drs there last year, I could hardly breathe and my throat was inflamed. She took 1 look at me and said there was nowt wrong. Despite the fact I could hardly talk and was coughing so much I was being sick.
Turns out, I had Trachylytus, was only diagnosed after I got an appointment to see another Dr.

I have to agree I tried ringing yesterday and was told the dr I wanted to see only does appointments on one day a week, but you can't book in advance, I was too late this week, so was told to ring back the day before next week and see if any appointments are available. I don't expect the system to get any better soon, if ever, especially with all these strike days coming up.

Another thing.. Are you obliged to tell the receptionist what is wrong with you? I for one resent being asked because, I thought there was such a thing as patient confidentiality or doesn't that matter anymore.

We've had allot of problems here, especially with our daughter when she was seriously ill, I ended up taking her to a and e with German measles. I never actually get to see my doctor either, I think I've only ever seen the same doctor twice. But I think it's the same everywhere to be honest. One thing I will say is the nurse practitioners are fantastic here if you don't have to see a doctor.

I believe it's so they can decide if you need to see a doctor ASAP or if they can fob you off with a phone appointment or the nurse practitioner.

Yes the idea being if you're fobbed off once too often you may take the hint and go private, think next time I ring and I'm asked what's wrong by the receptionist I shall tell them I woke up with a pair of balls see if that don't get me an appointment.
