No I agree, but is my understanding correct that cars can drive up there after certain hours for any reason?

Same thing, cars are easy to see and hear, will only be travelling on the 'road' section and won't be travelling quickly, bikes are harder to spot, almost silent and will go anywhere including the square and pedestrian side of the bollards/flower basket posts etc.

That said, bikes can outrun people and something is only illegal if you get caught ;)

The Guards stopped to change a tyre for somebody this morning, as they had no jack or wheel brace...

..unfortunately, the tyre turned out to be bald - as were the other three - and they had no tax, MOT, insurance or even a driving licence - and the brake lights didn't work.

Coming out of my street this morning on foot at around 6.30, Victoria Terrace, I hear a vehicle flooring it down Marston Road, so I get on to the path pre empting its turn into the road, it clearly took it too quick, squealing of tyres and a medium sized truck almost hits the Vicarage wall, and yours truly. He carries on down Victoria Terrace, at full speed mainly on the path until a third of the way down, till he gets to the bottom before a further squealing of tyres. No company markings on it unfortunately. Was fearful for my health when it was squealing to a halt.

Talking about parking on asda. I heard that someone was going round the car park today taking photos of the cars.
Not bad driving related, but, St. Georges are fitting ANPR cameras to the entrances/exits. Staff have received emails asking for their car details. Hopefully it should stop those that park up and walk into town. God knows how it will be policed, the amount of visitors we have is enormous.

Not Stafford, but just been nearly taken out by an old guy on the roundabout in the middle of Cheadle - drove straight onto it even though I was already there and clearly indicating... seemed blissfully unaware that I was ever there...

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
A big round of applause to the person in a red Citroen C3 who pulled out in front of me from Aldi causing me to brake hard. And an extra round of applause to the same person for flicking the 'v' at me because I had the audacity to flash my headlights at them.

Here are another couple of videos of poor driving in Stafford I have found on YouTube. Makes me glad I don't live in Stafford.

1. Utter, utter arsehole in a brown people carrier, who nearly wiped me out on my bike as I was passing Doxey School and heading towards Seighford.

I was cycling down hill and she decides to overtake me, even though it was clear that a car was approaching towards us. Rather than choosing to hit the oncoming car head on, she chose the more fun option of pulling across and attempting to hit me from the side and across the pavement. Luckily, my brakes are in perfect working order, as was my voice and my middle finger. For the record, I was wearing reflective clothing and had bike lights on plus a helmet light on, which I suppose, helped assist her in her aim.

2. During the same ride later, at which time it had gone dark (approximately 9p.m.) the total waste of space cyclist who was wearing all dark clothing, no helmet and no lights on her bike, happily rambling here with not a care in the world. She did have (peroxide?) blonde hair, so perhaps she thought this might have helped?

I couldn't believe the woman that drove past the red light at Browning st, waited for a gap in traffic, and just drove on , she did the same at the turn into Lidlls ,drove past the red light half turning towards halfords soon as a gap appeared she pulled off cutting up a white van that was using the left turn from town to go towards halfords!

I came across one, not road legal, in the dark and with no lights travelling at about 8mph in the middle of the main 60mph stretch of the Sandon Road between Beaconside and Sandon not that long ago...
