To be fair it should be a person, a fire or a maggot.....

I had the honour and humbling experience of attending the unveiling of the donor family networks gift of life memorial at the National arboretum in Alrewas. There are now two gardens here that touch me personally, this one and the SANDS garden which I visit to remember my daughter, Eleanor.
All the gardens here are stunning and so thoughtfully designed. Highly recommend a visit.
Today I stood next to a lady whose teenage son was murdered, his gift of life saved 5 people. I sat with a brother and sister whose mom had improved the quality of life of no less than 42 people. I met a mom of a 13 year old whose tragic death also gave the gift of life to others.
I have been an emotional puddle all day. The survivors guilt I carry is heavy. However, I feel honoured to have been given the responsibility to carry my donor with me through my life.
This charity ball I'm organising is one way I can try to give a little back. I hope some of you here who have followed my journey are able to join me on the night, perhaps help with sourcing auction or raffle prizes or simply keep me sane with your good humour and support.

I saw a young couple on telly a few months back that donated their dead childs organs, I thought if they can do that, when dealing with that grief, then why cant I. So I have a donor card and my family are aware of my wishes.

There is a free pre ball event taking place in The Royal Oak Gnosall on the 29th July from 8 pm. The aim to promote the ball and have a bit of fun. Live band and auction.
Sadly I won't be there, I'm taking part in one of the biggest events (apart from marriage, child birth and the actual transplant!) of my life! But don't let that stop you wandering over for a night out.

@Withnail @Gramaisc and anonymous. Oh my, I've woken up to such a great sight. Thankyou all so very much. Very emotional today. Lost for words on people's generosity and support.
