Just completely wonderful experience. Each medal was given by a donor family member. So very humbling.
I came away with two silver and two golds. Already planning next year! Thankyou so much who have donated, wished me well or have considered holding an organ donor card.

Just had an interview on Radio Stoke regarding opt out system for organ donation.
I've been truly rocked at some of the comments from people on social media on how they feel an opt out system is against their 'rights' and how they oppose the idea on the grounds that the state doesn't own them. Is the concept of choosing to opt out really that difficult to grasp? What about the right for others to live once they've expired, what about the rights of my children growing up without a mom? Are people truly that selfish, that they would opt out on these grounds. Medical or religious reasons, fine but because they think this means the state owns them? Really?

I've held a donor card for years and totally agree that if people don't want to donate for whatever reason they should opt out rather than the other way around.

They can do whatever they like with my bits (once I'm gone that is) provided it is for the benefit of others and not some morbid scientific experiment.

Die and let live I say.

Got a card when I got my first motorbike, can't fathom a reason not to. I agree with G, if I was in charge opting out would mean opting out of receiving as well as giving. Opting back in once you find out you are ill would not be permitted.

I laminated a card and fitted it to the fairing, next to the speedo - just as a reminder....
