Any serious crime that involves violence, or the threat of violence, should carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years (i.e. not eligible for parole for at least 10 years).
And in the case of serious crimes involving more than one perpetrator, then anyone found guilty should not only serve their own sentence, but then serve (consecutively) the sentence of those not found/convicted.
Its time the politicians prioritised the general public / victims.
Oh, and concurrent sentences should only be applicable in cases where someone is charged with more than one offence relating to the same crime. Different crimes = consecutive sentences.
Message to politicians: that is what is meant by tough on crime & tough on the causes of crime.
