What is worrying is the current trend in that north end area. The coach company was broken into smashed windows and graffiti on coaches, attempted blazes at 2 houses near the bristol street roundabout, blaze at kingsmead marshes, knife robbery at the post office, co-op broken into, vandalism on doxey marshes and St George's park areas, and now tesco armed robbery.

Policeman doing a grand job not having caught anyone yet nor in prevention.....plenty of cameras around do they actually use them, even off fancy walk when this latest robbery dumped their cars. Yes not much sign of an increased police presence. Something worse will happen if this goes on, Stafford seems an easy target right now as people are easily getting away with it seems.

Obviously reducing the policing budget further via a new pay rise will help immensely

Serious crimes, and those that form part of a 'series' will probably be solved but it'll take a while. Knives and stealing a shop workers car doesn't exactly seem professional and I'd hazard a guess that the same people who robbed the post office were responsible for this.

As for prevention, how do you prevent armed robberies in commercial premises? People obsess over a bobby on the beat, but other than making people feel good about seeing one, they don't really achieve much.

Your latest Smart Alert.

Four men in their thirties have been arrested following an armed robbery at the Tesco Express store on Stone Road, Stafford on Wednesday night (4 October).

The men, two of whom are 34, 36 and 32 years old respectively and all from the Stafford area have been arrested on suspicion of robbery. They remain in police custody as the investigation continues.

During the ordeal on Wednesday, three women employed at Tesco Express were about to leave the store after closing at 11pm when two masked men carrying large knives forced them back inside.

One of the women was forced to open the safe and cash tills and the two robbers emptied the cash into bags and boxes, along with a large quantity of cigarettes.

They then made another woman drive her colleague's Ford Mondeo to the loading bay, where they loaded up the stolen cash and goods after the car had been emptied. The pair then made off in the stolen car, which was later found abandoned in Fancy Walk, Stafford.

Anyone with information is asked to call us on 101 quoting incident number 1 of 5 October or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
