Stafford shops closing - Turning into a ghost town?

In other news, The Apothecary/Post House was the frontpage story on today's paper, regarding its closure. Someone on the front (I think it was a councillor?) talking about how great it was.

Must have been a bloody long time ago.

Hmm, what's even worse is they dissolved the company mid December, so had no intention of sticking around after new year.

Tbh, the post house was only good in it's first incarnation really.
The fosters?, did a good job with the place, but it was crippled by low footfall and high rent, also, I think they put too much emphasis on the food side.

At best, they should have just did average pub grub, and a more superior banquet on a need to basis, like for weddings events and such.

Also the interior space is a little awkward, there's numerous rooms and passage ways, so it's difficult to make it a club really.

Going forward, I'm not sure what you can do with the place, the last 3 failed for various reasons.

Fosters spent way too much on the place.
The casa team did the math, n realised the rent would pull both it and casa down if they continued the venture, so pulled out.
N the last lot, we're hit by falling numbers of people out, n I don't think they did enough to differentiate between that and the post house, so again, a failed idea.

It would make a great coffee, dessert, mobile phone, bookies, indian, charity shop

Must be a demand for this type of establishment and all in one place to cut down on the walking :)

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
The new Next store on Queens Retail Park opened at 8.30am and didn’t close until 9pm when it was first opened. Now it’s 9am until 8pm. It’s no surprise that M&S are cutting their opening hours. Most town centres don’t open late anyway.

So no lease signed as yet then

Maybe mothball it and have it as museum to mothballs

Perhaps an artisan factory producing high end mothballs out back

Stafford - Mothball town - moths, just keep on flying by

Soundtrack - Naphthalene Alley by Rod Stewart

Apparently, the landlord of the post house has stated, because of the repeated failures of the place, and being short changed, by tenants not paying rent, along with the difficulty in finding a reliable tenant, going forward, he'll either put the whole thing for sale, or will only lease it to a big national firm, so that's independent firms out the question for the foreseeable future.
