I have heard from a few sources that the Spittal Brook seems to be closed in recent days.
Its been closed since 5th december "until further notice"!!
I only called in a few weeks ago as well, to enquire about food menus (especially vegan for sons girlfriend). They seemed really enthusiastic telling me about their upcoming christmas menu which they were doing in the run up to christmas, and other menus available. Seemed so friendly that me and hubby have been meaning to pop in for a few drinks on a saturday night. Hope it does re-open soon so that we can give it a try.

(Maybe I shouldn't have called in that day, I seem to have got my name as 'The Hatchet woman ' on here in the past from places closing down after me giving them my business...)

This used to be a brilliant pub with welcoming staff and a great quiz. I hope it reopens very soon.
Talking of quizzes, wondering if anyone here competed in the Stafford/Locks&Latches Sunday Quiz League from 15-20 years ago (like I did).

Any more info on this - it came up in conversation over dinner last night and we were wondering if we'll ever get our local back?

I wouldn't hold your breath, Punch have had another pub in the area "available shortly" for at least a couple of months, although that one is open and operating under a temporary manager.

Advertised rent for the Lamb is £5,200, or you can try, from various owners, the Tap & Spile for £10,000 pa, the Luck Penny for £30,000 pa, Penkridge Horse & Jockey for £22,000 pa, Haughton Bell for £15,000 ... There again you could buy the Copmere End Star for £395,000 or the Forton Swan for £875,000. Other pubs are available.

The Spittal Brook is located at the end of a cul-de-sac just off the main A34 road into Stafford. Situated on the southern outskirts of the town, but within walking distance of the centre, it lies between two busy retail parks and opposite a large GE Power site. The pub is within easy reach of a large number of residential properties, with demographics showing an abundance of Affluent Singles & Couples In Exclusive Urban Neighbourhoods. There’s an expansive area of parkland behind the property.

Is there?

Some fields the other side of the garages?

Enjoying a drop of red.
I'd normally put stuff like that down to typical marketing bullshit but actually that is gross misrepresentation.

I like the fact it doesn't mention the trains, at all!

To be honest I never found the trains an issue other than they didn't stop outside the pub to save a walk from town :)

Even sitting in the beer garden with the trains and Lichfield Road traffic wasn't a problem and then inside the pub I can't recall hearing the trains.
