Stafford Registry Office

Didn't get married at the Registry Office but at "approved premises" so had a registrar and assistant from Stafford to conduct the ceremony. Turned out that the registrar lived across the road from us and his assistant had worked alongside son on the bar at the Stafford Beer Festival. Small world. Very good ceremony as well.

I was a guest at the first wedding performed at The Spittal Brook. Unusual, but just seeemed so right for the couple involved.

We're getting married in the registry office in July!

FYI if you're booking from outside the county (registering at your local office that isn't in Staffordshire) then you have to specify the exact room you have booked - not just the office.

Knobjobs at the council tried to charge us twice as we didn't specify when booking - despite the fact that they failed to tell us or provide this info on any correspondence!

Anyway - I haven't even seen the room - hope it's nice!
Which room are you getting wed in?

The Boscobel - not sure if my spelling is correct!

I've never seen it - hope it's nice!

What about you?
Tipping Street unfortunately everything else was a tad too much money wise stupid pillock at the council quoted us £375 for Martin Street but that was the deposit when we should have been quoted nearly £800

That's just for the signature in the book thingy - to hire the Boscobell room (or whatever it's called!) is £275 -

As we wanted more than 2 guests (were having 8!)

I personally think it's a rip off for a crappy glass room next to the friggin library in Scaffoldshire Place!

But hey - I'm not marring the room am I?!

(Plus I'm going on an EPIC 2 week honeymoon to Italy! Yippiee!)
So am I getting this right it’s a total of £450 for the signature and room hire. Do you know how long you get the room for? You’d think they’d put this kind of info on their website. Thanks

It's £70 to register to be married, £275 for the room hire and then £70 for the certificates - not sure how much that comes to!?

And actually - despite being a massive bitch the room is rather nice - very simple - nothing fancy - but that's just what we wanted!

Not sure on how long you get it for? We had a quickly marriage - in and out in 10 mins!

I've seen people using the exterior for pictures after the closure - it still seems crazy to have just locked it up and walked away.

We did a similar thing when we got married at Liverpool registry office 10 years ago - We did a handful of photos in the courtyard outside, then used the seaman's church on the river front for the rest of the photos.

Have a wonderful day - I'm sure it will all be lovely

You get an hour. We had it booked 1-2 but were out by just before 1:45 (started at 1:15), didn’t bother with half the options as it’s all waffle to us - we were too busy standing and trying not to make each other start laughing through the ceremony for such things anyway.

I think it was an hour anyway. It was the shortest part of the day despite being the most significant.

The building is still in use by the council, I think something to do with special educational needs.

Think it was closed for a period before cllr winnington realised nobody could purchase it. So it was put back into use. The guy has not a clue

It is definitely more photogenic inside and out. I was married there and have photos from inside the ceremony room and outside on the steps.
