I remember our daughter doing Eurostar to Bruges . She was just getting in a Taxi at home for the station. I said " Have you got your passport?" She replied "Don't be silly I'm going on the train!" She ran back into the house on my clarification!!

S
Left my passport at work when I went to Amsterdam, better check I have it this time!

Made a cake for a friend today.
She’s got family round this weekend and she loves lemon cake so I took this round for her.

Tried to find some diffusers for some strip lights we have, realised it's cheaper to bin them and buy whole new LED light fittings.

Strip lights as in the rolls of LEDs you get?

Yeah, the diffusion on those is generally appalling unless you spend something silly like £10/m+

Yesterday I ordered a phone case from ebay, today I received an identical phone case saying it had come from China. I have no memory of ordering this previously (which doesn't rule it out!), and can find no record in my emails. So this means one of four things:

1) I ordered it and deleted all proof (not in past orders for amazon or ebay)
2) The item was in the UK already and is being shipped with dodgy methods
3) They can now deliver from China in approx 18 hours from placing the order, using our posties
4) Aliens

I ordered some stuff on eBay recently, allegedly in the UK. It took an amazing amount of time to arrive from Crewe. In the meantime, eBay terminated their listings and were vague about the reason. They said that I did not need to complete the transaction, but I had paid and actually got the items a few hours before I was informed. I suspect it was some sort of importation tax-dodging thing, but I don't really know.

This has happened twice now, with different sellers.

I've just ordered something that is apparently in Manchester, but the sellers address is China. I too was wondering if it was a bit of a fiddle. It should be here by Friday though.

I had exactly the same thing happen to me last month.

can anyone tell me how much 20 2 x2 paving slabs would weigh - I'm trying to cost out moving them and I need the weight and/or area dimension that 20 paving slabs will take up

They will vary quite a bit, modern ones will be lighter, maybe only 60lbs for thin 'decorative' ones. Older, 'council' ones may even approach 100lbs.

So, somewhere between half a ton and a ton for 20 of them.

If you have access to them, a bathroom scales would cope with the weight and give a good guide.

I really should have learnt by now to turn off the electrics before working on them, but was only a light extension into the cupboard on the landing, so I hit the floor from the top of the step ladder, with 240 volts across my chest, Utter panic from the dog and the wife, tho I think the dog was more concerned, or she may have been tasting me to see if I was done, and I must admit I was a bit worried about my pace maker as I lay on the floor taking my own pulse, still all was well after a little rest and a mopping off of the sweat pouring out of me, and the light in the cupboard is now fixed and working.

Feeling good after a nice night out in Spoons for a meal , followed by drinks in The Swan. (Celebrated our 39th anniversary since we met in The Grapes when the coaches came to Top of the World from West Bromwich)

Feel good, having done 2 good deeds...

Gave a homeless lad in a doorway some money for a hot drink..

Then shared our taxi with a rather inebriated 18 yr old RAF lad who was going back to his dad's house on Wildwood. Luckily he spewed up after getting out of the taxi in our road.

Had to check later that he wasn't lying in the alleyway...... He wasn't, so I'm presuming he go back to his dad's house ok :hmm: .
