Today, whilst searching through boxes for my School Exam Certificates I found....
A certificate from Chatterly Whitfield Mining Museum that certifys that I 'decended the Winstanley Shaft seven hundred feet to the Holly Lane coal seam' in 1986!
Now I'm not sure what type of job I thought this certificate was going to help with.....but I must of kept it for a good reason!
Ha! It gets more bizarre - I've just realised that I know the bloke that found it!...somebody's passport.
Well, I didn't actually find it, but somebody else found it, 200 miles away, in a lost bag left on a station platform in Dublin. He tweeted it with her name from the Polish passport as a clue, in case anybody knew her. It was retweeted by Irish Rail, who I still follow from when I used to travel over by train (and ferry!). Unfortunately, he spelt her very unusual name wrongly - I took a guess at the correct spelling, found a likely suspect on Facebook and alerted her, just as she was realising the bag was lost.
Ten minutes later, she was on her way back to get it.
Equivalent value today would be near enough fifty pence....A three pence piece whilst digging up the garden. It was dated 1943 so not even worth, well, three pence.
