Saw the big gaping hole in the bridge yesterday as I drove past. Luckily not to have gone over into the river! And there was a car hanging over the edge apparently.

It's an inverted moat, not sure how they plan to cut the grass now though....Jo at the bookies says theyve built a moat around Holmcroft to keep the people out

The other morning I was wishing I'd have gone back down to J13 after dropping hubby off at Astonfields, instead of Beaconside to J14.Beaconside is walking pace westbound towards Redhill between approximately 16:00 - 18:30 as people try to avoid greyfriers. It would be quicker just to go via greyfriers.
Sounds about right. The North of town is a no go zone at the moment what with Beaconside and the work on Lloyds roundabout. The other morning I was wishing I'd have gone back down to J13 after dropping hubby off at Astonfields, instead of Beaconside to J14.
Sat queuing for ages on Beaconside because of massive queues waiting at the 3 way lights by the new estate, but hardly anything coming out of the new estate. Those travelling the other way were even queuing the other side of Redhill island and up the stone road to get onto Beaconside .
Since the road closure switched (on Monday) from Eccleshall Road to Stone Road, the traffic flow has improved noticeably. No doubt, those going via alternative routes (Beaconside, Doxey/Seighford) are helping to keep the numbers down to a manageable level as well.Beaconside is walking pace westbound towards Redhill between approximately 16:00 - 18:30 as people try to avoid greyfriers. Bookies, Pub, Laundromat, Co-op. It's everything Holmcroft needs to secede from the rest of Stafford.
