Very thick for a phone cable - they have to withstand years of abrasion from trees. I wouldn't have been grabbing the ladder, though.Are you sure that's an electricity pole ??? metal ladders can have startling results with electricity !!!

Stopped again just now, apparently it took out the pylon by Stafford Rangers. Our Internet was off for a while too, and there were a lot of flickering lights..... Spooky!It looks like you guys are under fire ....

Watching the NASA site as ISS astronauts prepare to come home, I was struck by how the Mission Control room has changed since the days of the Apollo landings. All those boxy consoles with CRT monitors, ventilation holes and physical knobs and switches consigned to the gashbin. (Interestingly I have a number of screen controlled software defined radios but have had a tendency recently to map some of the controls to external boxes with switches and knobs that I can play with .. (cough)).
