Chiquito Bar and Mexican resturant coming to Stafford

I'm happy that they're coming as the town needs more variety, whether the demand is there or not is another matter.
I'll give it a go as it'll be local but based on a quick look at the menu I don't expect it to replace my bi-monthly trips to Castro's at Cheddleton for a proper Mexican/latin American meal.

You tried the inferno hot wings at the hungry horse? Not bad for a chain pub, pretty warm. Shame its just sauce chucked on wings though, be better if they were properly marinated overnight.
No, not tried them, but thanks for the tip :) Even 9yr old daughter hated the Redhills Mexican AYCE, but then again she will sit & eat Jalapenos out of the jar!

I'm not a fan of this restaurant, however I am glad it's coming to Stafford. There is definitely a need for more restaurants in Stafford and it is providing a different cuisine. It should also help to bring more footfall into the town, which can only be a good thing.

I look forward to receiving more announcements about other future operators being named.

All we've got to do now is wait for it to be built. They seem to be making good progress, with pile driving going on. Hope it is going to be worth all the grief and very long pedestrian diversions that are on the moment.

Never seen that. TBH I don't rate redhill very highly at all but sometimes when the weather is crap and you've got kids to entertain....
We went to the Redhill last week for the first time in probably two years. We thought the food was better and cheaper than at the King's Horse!

Just to clarify that I meant the food was better by the standards of these sorts of place. Obviously the food isn't a patch on somewhere like the Holly Bush at Salt etc. or my current favourite for a decently priced meal which is Pastiche.

Chiquitos aint too bad but id be over the moon if chicos in stone was opening up a branch in stafford instead. As a lover of hot food i think chicos is one of the best ive eaten at. I even used to order food to pick up snd make the 40 minute round trip to get it. If you like mexican food and have never bern chicos give it a go you wont be dissapointed. Their nachos are quality loads of jalepinos. My mouth is watering now, must think of something else. Nan on the bog nan on the bog

Sorry to disappoint you they are as Mexican as Vesta curries. Expensive fast food and they even sell pulled pork. Same as Nando's it's a chain

There's nothing wrong with chains. Hungry Horse, Butler's Bellend, Pizza Express - even McDonald's et al - they're all fine at what they do (you might not think so, but the thousands that keep them in business while others crumble around them would disagree).

Nando's isn't crap simply because it's a chain. It's crap because it serves average chicken at ridiculous prices. Sorry, correction - it sells average chicken; you are expected to serve yourself!

If this Chiquito's place has even half-decent Mexican food, I'll be happy :) Better than nowt!

Ah, might be worth a cheeky look in then. Did you have the AYCE buffet on whatever night you visited? I think I have been to the Chip Shop AYCE and the Curry AYCE there and whilst not on the standard of a proper curry house / chippy..... there were as you say, on a par with cheap and cheerful pub grub chains.

No there was just the standard menu when we were there. As I say perfectly fine if you have to balance eating with keeping kids entertained.

Chico was not a nice experience at least the last time I went early this year, it was almost free for what was eaten.

This would be positive for Stafford to add variety to our restaurants.

We have more than our fair share of Indian restaurants being spice island, narvana, Dilshad Tandoori and Balti restaurant, Curry Kuteer, Nishads and Ashiana.

I know the Indian restaurant plays a big part in Stafford's local economy and is highly competitive but it would be nice to see something different like a Mexican.
