I accidentally used Newport Road today - still, that's it for this year, I suppose, best to get the annual attempt over with.

I see that they are digging up outside the Sun, just to add to the chaos.

I generally don't class the Grapes to the Eagle as a real road these days, not for several years now, but I made a silly mistake...

I treat it like a car park with two entrances, that can be a handy short-cut in extreme circumstances...

Enjoying a drop of red.
Most times during the working day it does a good impression of a car park. On the rare occasions when traffic is merely slow, as opposed to stationary, one has to contend with the fuckwittery of those who deliberately get in the wrong lane in order to cut you up between the Tesco lights and the Eagle lights because their journey and sense of self-entitlement is more important than your own.

Lichfield Road is back to car-park status - I presume Riverway is shut?

Best just avoided altogether - especially if people driving a car transporter from http://www.sshselfdrive.co.uk/ are stupid enough to block junctions (at The Hough exit). Having said that, he wasn't the only one - junctions were being blocked as far out as Weeping Cross double roundabout...

Just don't go there.

It was like that at 9.30am this morning when I was driving back home from town.

That really pisses me off. I don't let them back in

Well people do want the roads and footpaths relaying which is the case for around the sun inn and riverway and peeps have been going on about a new bypass forever.

Yet people seem shocked this work for supposed improvements most folk want creates inconvenience for a period.

Of course this wouldn't happen if highways could make those magic fairies simply lay tarmac overnight.

Of course if people who live in live and work in Stafford would rather sit on their arses in a car park instead of walking or biking it on a beautiful day.....well you know the rest.....Oh the humanity of it lol.

Or maybe Highways could have scheduled the individual works at different times instead of all together.

The real reason why all the work is being done at the same time, causing massive disruption and upheaval, is that the council are getting everything done before the end of the financial year. That is quite reasonable, but if we had a proper council with the required level of skill and foresight they would have scheduled the work over the year one section at a time and still all finished prior to the new financial year. That's what happen in a proper town, but it is too much to expect Stafford planners (if there are any) to think things through properly, and so we all have to suffer the consequences.
