Thank you :)

It's on the Parkside Avenue estate, so would you consider that 'old'? I figure that you are referring to the new development still under construction when you say 'new'?
Yeah - in my view that's not too hard to get out of going left, some kind person will let you out and I rarely see more than two vehicles trying to exit - There's not a lot of people in the 'new' bit yet, but exiting that could get quite entertaining as the numbers in there grow.

There aren't many places in Stafford where your exit to the outside world would be as easy, I suspect.

If you have time constraints that commit you to joining in the daily lemming runs, then Stafford in general can be a little fraught, but Parkside to Junction 14 might be one of the easier routes. Others with more experience may be along shortly, I just try to avoid the issue.

If the house is in the 'old' Parkside, i.e., south of Beaconside, then turning left in the morning may not be too bad and turning right back in in the evening isn't desperately hard. If the house is one of the new ones north of Beaconside, then turning right out of there in the morning may be a real issue...
I had to deliver a birthday card to one of the new houses on the way to work one morning just before Christmas. 'twas a right pain trying to turn right out of there. I remember thinking at the time that I wouldn't like to have to do it every day.

Thanks again. Possibly sounded like a silly follow up question, but I age houses in the same way as my record collection and anything after 1980 seems quite new ;)

That's reassuring to know. I still work in Drayton, but didn't want to get into a situation where it took as long to get to Great Bridgeford as it did to do the rest of the journey.

Not ideal. Courteous motorists are out there, but finding two travelling in opposite directions when you need them isn't always easy...

Turning right from either side onto Beaconside is a borderline deathwish - to turn right from the 'old' Parkside, go left and all round the roundabout. From the new bit, you're on your own.....

My friend lives in one of those new house on the estate opposite Parkside and she says it's actually easy to get out in the mornings when traffic is stationary. The problems come when it's a bit quieter and traffic is all going at 50 mph.

I live on Parkside, takes me about 5mins to get to Great Bridgeford so it's fine...for now. They will be changing the Beaconside road and be putting traffic lights in. I went to a presentation on it a few years back and it was 2 sets of lights plus the whole of the roundabout at the top was going to have lights too. Not sure if plan has changed now, prob not as its circa 3000 houses they plan to build along Beaconside!

Does she turn right or left?

If you don't mind me asking, is that in the morning around 8-8:30?

Not sure about the traffic lights. In my experience they are well intentioned but almost always actually make things worse.

Right. Turning left is tricky when the traffic is free flowing at 50mph. Turning right is very hard!! She prefers when the trafic heading towards the old Uni is stationary, but it's not an ideal place to get out of at any time and will only ge worse as more housing there are built and become occupied.

Getting out of any housing estate onto a well travelled road is hard. It's the same everywhere.
