Stafford shops opening - Turning into a boom town?

I'm really loving all of these flats in the town center - I suspect they will make a big difference

Like the Salter Street ones where they want OIRO £245,000 for a 2 bed? Do people really want to live in the middle of town that much that they'd pay almost £100k more than a 3 bed 5 minutes down the road?

Especially as it's gonna be all paper thin walls and all that other new build crap.

A one-bed, town centre flat with high-spec fittings for £140,000, there's no way they won't sell to young professionals. Can only be a good thing for the town centre.

Popped into the new b&m in town today, it is huge, so much bigger then queensville. It was heaving which was nice to see. I picked up some really good bargains and seen a few other items I would like to buy. Aldi was being worked on on the inside also. It will be great having 2hrs free parking.

I don't like B&M. I don't like Poundstretcher. I don't like any of the cheap tat stores.

But I still use them. Except Poundland. I utterly despise Poundland.

I don't usually use them, except Home Bargains, on the Hough. Good prices, wide range of stuff and friendlier and more helpful staff than in most of the more 'upmarket' stores in town.

Having just heard my neighbours cough I am reminded that terraces are no better for sound.

If you refer to Martin Street Mansions ( titter ) then some walls are substantial however others that divide the original office space, less so.

Professional? Doesn't that just mean tax paying ? That's what my accountant says anyway

I'd have some concerns over the appalling noise that emits from Casa at 2 in the morning if I was considering one , so St George's Mansion ( chuckle ) would be more appealing

No possible parking in Martin Street either ( pictùred )

So, from memory, update - Working from the West - Newport Road, the hair & beauty place on the corner of Pilgrim Street, with the property next to Couture also undergoing renovation.
Bridge Street, Thawa Bridge curry house and Subway have both opened and the Cinema build is now under way. Verso Lounge opens in the coming week meaning less empty space in the developments in the South end of the Town.
I'm not sure what the business is but I've noticed there's a place opening in the old sound centre shop in Mill Street. Must be putting some money into it as there have been people working there at around midnight.
The Bird In Hand is now thriving after its re-opening. REDRUM further over adds a bit more might life to the quiet end of town. With flats going up for grabs in Salter Street and Martin Street, plus those that will eventually be available in Mount Street, plus Kingsmead units opening, I can see the other end of town turning round within the next year. and with such a busy sporting year, can also see more bars and pubs with big screens to get crowds in.
These are all the businesses and individuals taking a gamble on success. All we need now is government looking at growth rather than cuts, to help society thrive and move forward.

I've been to the new B & M this weekend and it's great! It was very hot though, no air-con, just some fans very high up on the ceiling. For all those snobby people who look down on these type of shops, you need to pay this store a visit.

12 pack of Andrex toilet rolls for £3.99, 6 pack of Plenty kitchen towels for £2.99, The Sanctuary toiletries range for half the price it is in Boots. L'Oreal and Garnier skincare also much cheaper than Boots, 3L bottle of Coke for £2.05, Warburtons loaf for £1. There are many branded products in there, but if you want to spend twice the amount on the same stuff in Sainsbury's or Boots then you've got more money than sense as far as I'm concerned!

We nipped in to the new B&M this afternoon just for a nose, and were pleasantly surprised, coming away with more food items than I'd reckoned on. I'm not sure I'd make a special trip there (like I do to ASDA, Tescos or Sainsburys, say), but if you're parking in town anyway, then it's not a bad place to call in and pick up a few items.

Went to B&M today and enjoyed it... Is massive and to be honest it wouldn't surprise me if the close the other one.

You get 2 hours parking in the car park (ANPR via Euro Car parks)... Didn't see any ANPR cameras up...

So the car park may have opened but the owners don't want you to stay and shop in the town centre.

???

Two hours is way more than enough time to shop in the town centre.
Is it?

Surely you would want people to stay longer than two hours to shop, have a bite to eat, shop a bit more, have another drink and maybe shop again?

That's what happens when I go to places like Birmingham or Manchester. I'm not comparing Stafford to either but surely you would want people to spend longer than two hours in Stafford and spend more money?
