15 Tipping Street - open house

First time thread so hopefully this works!!
A number of weeks ago (on the Staffordshire place thread) I promised to good folk of the forum an opportunity to have a look around the property I purchase from the council 12 months. Originally it was in a right old mess and the SBC conservation officer was starting to worry about its future but after 12 months of weekends / evenings its finally ready for the public (top two floors). Unfortunately both were let within the first week of marketing so I can only offer the small opportunity to have a look around prior to people moving in. The building was originally built in 1740 (30 years B4 Australia was discovered) and has so many original features. I've still to decide on the use for the ground floor (suggestions welcomed) but please feel free to call in and I'll give you a guided tour. I'll leave the front door unlocked so please come in and give me a shout (Saturday 28th or Sunday 29th 12:00 - 13:00). Sorry it's only a small window but I need to crack on with the ground floor.
In case you need to know where Tipping Street is it's up the side of Superdrug.

If you missed out on this and, I suspect, I'm the only bugger who didn't, you
missed out on a great deal. LLFC has made a tremendous job of restoring
this excellent building. Here's an enhanced photo of a door in the cellar. If you
know why holes had been drilled in it, please post back...Cheers...Ecker.

Perhaps it was at some stage studded with decorative iron work, later removed perhaps for scrap?

Alternatively, previous owner could have been a massive pervert...

Probably not decorative, since it was a cellar.

I lived in a late C16th townhouse once that, like its neighbours, had had its external doors and shutters fortified with ironwork during a period of civil unrest. Possibly the Gordon Riots, but that last may be very unreliable memory. But that sort of thing wouldn't look like this after removal.

These here holes might be more likely to have been, in my extremely inexperienced opinion, ventilation holes to allow some air circulation and help prevent whatever was stored inside from getting mouldy and musty.

Or perhaps they used to make the scullerymaid sleep down there.

Or a pervert, of course. 50 shades of Farrow and Ball Lamplighter's Breeches Grey sort of thing.

Yer daft bugger Maryland, love the Farrow and Ball colour name, Bleached Beech perhaps as an alternative?

Thanks to LLFC for opening up his house for us to have a nose!

Very interesting building and nicely renovated.

I bet it will still be there long after the dreadful council building next to has sunk into the swamp.

The holes in the cellar door are for ventilation as the room it leads into looks like it was used for storing food.

No matter how many small glasses of wine from Messrs Aldi one may accidentally consume in the name of research while making up F&B paint names, nothing is as bizarre as the reality.

Bleached Beech sounds quite Scandi and probably exists, I would have thought.

Am i reading this right that LLFC originally posted at 11:46 PM on Saturday night when the first chance of getting in the building was earlier that day?
Can someone please explain how the time thingymebobs work, as then Ecker responds, before LLFC had posted.

The thread was definitely posted on Friday, as I read it then, and if you hover over the timestamps you can see the actual date -- March 27th. You're right about the day listed in the timestamps being wrong... I suspect it's related to the clocks changing.

There's a few pictures of the property on Rightmove.

Not sure about the time stamp but it was originally posted on Friday. It could be user error as this is my first thread. I'll try to upload a selection of before and after shots. I've just started on the ground floor so I promise to have another open day when its a little more advanced (I'll give a bit more notice this time...... Sorry)

Middle floor fireplace room - this was thick with grease and we uncovered the fireplace was hidden behind kitchen units and boarded over to support the waste from the sink
