Dragged my friend round and had a lovely poke around the county buildings (I didn't grow up here, it's all new to me) they are really very pretty, I had no idea, also joined a tour which was jolly informative.

It was just lovely to meet and chat with so many passionate people, genuine warmth and friendly and I've got a bunch of leaflets of place to visit next. lovely day, well worth a visit next year.

my family have always been busy on the local history front where I grew up so it was nice to see others - i even brought a book from one of the historical societies.

On that point, does anyone know anything about the building tours that I've seen walk around town?

They can be booked at the High House. If memory serves it's either £3 or £3.50 a head for a minimum of fifteen, though if you have less people you can just make up the difference between you.

Route is from High House to Market Square and the Court, Martin St, Eastgate St, Market St, Crabbery St, through to the Church, Church Lane, Mill St then back up Greengate St.

I admire your optimism but can't say i share it.

I fear that events such as these will be first up against the wall for the 'price of everything, value of nothing' firing squad.

I do hope i'm wrong.

Had a lovely time with little master Jade clothing - took in the RAF display in the market square and the Sealed knot soldiers and had a good look round the county buildings, which I was most impressed with - have lived in Stafford for 17 years and never really knew what the building was or imagined how grand it was inside! did the tour as well and then a visit to Stafford police station to have a good look round there and got lots of freebies for little master JC who loved getting locked in a police cell!! A good day all round.
