For Sale A Carboot Sale

As part of the massive clear out I will be getting rid of enough non furniture items to do a couple of car boot sales.

Whilst I enjoy having a look round the car boot sale, actually doing one is my idea of complete and utter hell.

Would anyone be interested in a job lot of saleable items, including kids clothes and toys, out door toys, books, DVD's, blankets, curtains, nursery bits, kitchen bits and general household items?

If I could work out a price stuff should sell for then sell the lot to someone for 30-40% would I have any takers?

It gets the stuff out of my way relatively hassle free and gives someone else the ability to make some money.

Generally job lots only go for around 20% of expected return. There will be items that just never sell, as well as items that despite best efforts can't be sold for anywhere near what they are worth. Everyone at a boot sale wants a bargain and a lot of them are as cheeky as hell when it comes to making ridiculous offers.
Great plan to sell it as one job lot though so don't let me put you off, but to be honest I think you're better saying "make me an offer" and then it's up to you whether to accept it or not, or see who makes the best offer.

I'm a bit like you now and just can't be bothered with the hassle, the rainy days etc. And the scavengers that think it's okay to open your boot and start rumaging around before you even applied the handbrake!! Grrrrr

I'm also moving soon so have had a clear out and considered a boot sale, however visiting my local one I really don't want the hassle and don't think I'll make much after the fee!

Like you I've sold some furniture items via the forum and have popped a few other bits worth something on ebay -

The rest I'm going to take to cash4clothes - they also take brik-a-brak so I'd would rather make a few quid and it go to a good cause rather than end up at the tip!

Another possibility is doing a garage sale or yard sale - Speak 65 on here did one a while back and it seemed to go OK.

Might not be ideal for you, though, being out in Yokelsville.

I was only half serious, I don't think they'd appreciate me stealing their thunder and I probably wont have it all sorted by then.

If I don't get interest in the job lot sale I'll probably end up at the boot sale.

Quite a lot of people seem to sell bags & boxes of stuff for car boot sales on Facebook.

It might be worth boxing it all up then joining one of the online Facebook groups (search 'Stafford Car Boot' on Facebook) I think they go for between £5 - £10 a bag?

(Disadvantage is that then you'll have people turning up & wanting to rummage through it before they decide if they want to buy it - which is probably just as bad as having to do a car boot sale!)
Bad idea! Just ignore me!

Not such a bad idea. As long as such an ad gives a list of the main items and clearly states "no rummagers" then it shouldn't be too difficult to avoid.
