A Small Challenge.....

The Bap Shop - Princes Street.

Tin's what it does on the say. With crackling.

Mcgregors also do really nice pork baps and are a local business - yummy sandwiches too.
I'm still buying my meat and veg from the market and fresh farm eggs locally.

Why did they stop the upstairs seating though?

Never understood that - otherwise yes, a good one too.

I've started using my local butchers even more now since the horsemeat scandal. We did used to go in before , but decided it's worth going there all the time now for fresh produce. They've started selling a variety of veg as well.

The meat and chicken seems more expensive at the time than the local Co-op , but as it isn't pumped with water & additives it doesn't shrink so much and goes farther. Much tastier too!
Also see my Honey Roast Ham sliced off the joint and can ask for just how many slices I want. The prepacked supermarket ham comes no-where near it for taste.
I can also buy just a 'handful' of stewing steak (or half a handful if it's the butcher with massive hands :D)

Isn't doing my diet much good though.......with such a nice looking display of their home-made pies, sausage rolls, quiches, scotch eggs etc etc, as well as the very inviting locally homemade cakes sat on top of the counter .............

Hindle's on Bridle Road.

I can scoff a bag of their pork scratchings on the 5 minute walk back home . Have to buy 2 bags so hubby can actually have some :D
I've recommended these loads of times, and I know which butcher you mean with the big hands!

Must agree the pies are lovely from Hindle's.
We are also buying most of our meat from the butcher's on the market and have changed our eating habits after the horsemeat scandal. We don't buy any meat ready meals anymore on principle that these companies were negligent on their quality control. In general the meat from the butchers seems to be of a superior quality to what we used to get from Asda or Tesco.

Can I just give a shout for local butchers
We buy our meat from John Anslow on Sandon Rd home cured bacon (no watery gunk when cooking) and sausage (spicy Welsh Dragon) are excellent
We also use the butcher by the Prince of Wales he makes excellent Meatballs

It's dead easy to make your own, only problem is, bought ones will never be the same again.

Hubby has had a walk there in his lunch times and bought a few bottles in the past, but agrees that it is more expensive than buying it from shops. Would have thought it to be cheaper to buy from the warehouse direct!

Hmm, that is a bit odd! A bit like the farmers markets in town, amazing how expensive they can be sometimes compared to a decent butcher.

Chicken John has lots of heinz related pastry coated items today. Sausage rolls with tomato sauce (or HP), pasties filled with heinz beans and some also have meatballs in. Also lots of scotch egg bars and other assorted snacky foods and all are 30p each or 4 for a quid. Mostly dated 24th from what I can see, but freezable mostly.
