Amazon prime

Don't know if anyone uses it, but if so I assume you've seen the price hike? Its gone up 60% (£49 > £79 per year), but apparently thats OK as they throw in a lovefilm account. If you won't use a lovefilm account you have two options, pay and don't use it or cancel prime completely.

My OH has turned off her auto renewal, I suggest anyone that doesn't want lovefilm does the same.

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
LoveFilm must be struggling against Netflix so Amazon have gone down the Google/G+ route and are insisting you have a LF account by bundling it with Prime.

Glad I don't bother with Prime.

Amazon prime screwed up a delivery last week, which was a present for my mum. Yesterday they failed to deliver a parcel for my OH, again time critical. Apparently Prime orders can be delivered any time up until 9pm, but that didn't stop the delivery guy logging it as her not being in despite her standing in the door of her shop on the phone to amazon at the same time the guy reckons he tried. Plus he said the lights were off, anyone who knows my OHs shop knows the lights never actually go off!

They offered to extend her prime membership to say sorry, how lucky she is.

I normally get a free month a year. If im desperate for something to be delivered quickly i open a new account to get the free month of prime and cancel it a few days later so i dont get billed for it and i still get the whole month free

Didn’t realise LoveFilm was even still going.

I haven’t actually paid for Prime in ages. We order so much between the accounts that share it, whenever something doesn’t arrive on time we ask for the complimentary free month. Got well over a year of free prime at this point.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Good point!
I do still use prime but only because I have the student version which is half price.
Got it for a discount last year, primarily to watch The Grand Tour but have found it far more useful than I expected delivery-wise so intend to renew.

I ♥ cryptic crosswords
I appear to have Amazon Prime although I don't pay for it ( directly )

Apart from free postage what other benefits are there?

( still waiting on the chicken/egg )

You get prime video, which isn't quite as good as netflix but some good stuff. You also get some free music, not the full prime unlimited but again some good stuff. Finally (I think) if you choose slower delivery of 3-5 days on a prime item they give you a quid per order back as credit for music or film purchases/rentals.

To get the most of these benefits you really need an Amazon device to stream them, some other devices play the video stuff but few play the music.
