anyone know what this is all about?

Potential toxic, fatal & hazardous BIOGAS SYSTEM heading to YOUR Village!

i know the girl who created the group, and she's a good lass so don't be mean.. this is just the first i've heard of anything like this, and i'm quite an ardent lover of local newspapers, so i'm surprised it's passed me by!

is this even a bad thing? it sounds like one of these "renewable" energy things that hippies are always banging on about.. isn't that what they're always striving for? :?:

edit: oh, right - she's obviously miffed about an enormous ugly power plant being plonked in her little village, which to be fair i can understand..

Perhaps any toxic waste from this contraption will be used to landscape holes 10 to 18 at the golf club extension....

... it does sound like a bit of nimbyism to me - up to this point. Actually, I am operating a small-scale bio-gas generator here at the moment, but I put that down to being on the verge of over-indulgence last night.

All the holes are being remodelled, so I'd say 1-18. ;)

It normally sends me a message to east chocolate covered bicuits, mint being my favourite...

How nice for you. Unfortunately there are no biscuits to be had in the sunny climes of Walsall today.

1. If it's good enough for the germans it's good enough for me
2. It could create some much needed jobs in that area
3. That area is just the posh side of cannock
4.
5.
6.

why do you always do this when you're making points?? is that you intended to list 6 things, but just couldn't be arsed with the rest?? lol

when i started i had a number of interesting points to make then i either decided that they were probably not interesting enough or not relevant....

So what is it?

So it reduces waste, and produces energy? So its a bad thing?
thanks for trying to get this back on track, tek..

yeah, that was my first thought - "surely this is a good thing?".. but, after looking into it further, i can sort of see why someone local to the area would protest.. tbh, i was posting it here in the hope that some of the more "eco-friendly" forumites who have contacts in the council would be able to comment..

is this nimbyism, or does the lass have a point?

EVERY form of energy production is ugly to someone, and NOBODY wants it on their doorsteps. Simple fact of life, anything in someone elses yard is better than something in yours.

So where is this going? How big is it? Maps anyone?

it seems that waste water at the end of the process can be a bit of a problem but the reverse osmosis soon sorts that one out. Does anyone know if their are serious environmental negates? or is it the usual nimbyism? you don't hear me complaining about the toxic waste that is going to used to landscape the whole of the holes at the golf (achtung! achtung!) club....
