Annual Tax Summary

I have just received a new form from HM Revenue and Customs called 'Your Annual Tax Summary'

It makes very interesting reading!

It lays out how much you have earned in the tax year and how much tax and NI you have paid and shows how it is calculated.

On the back it shows how your money has been spent, the figures are approx.:-

Welfare - 26%
Health - 20%
Education - 14%
State Pensions - 13%
National Debt Interest - 7.5%
Defence - 5.5%
Criminal Justice - 4.5%
Transport - 3%
Business & Industry - 3%
Government Admin - 2%
Culture - 1.5%
Environment - 1.5%
Housing & Utilities - 1.5%
Overseas Aid - 1.25%
EU - 0.8%

I would like to see a break down to see exactly what is covered by each category for instance what does 3% of my money pay for in the Business & Industry category?

That will be "assistance" for Lockheed Martin, the world's largest arms manufacturer soon to be the world's largest private health firm , lowering wage and staff quality taking profit out of the NHS........or maybe it's not....

How do I edit this?
There's been quite a few articles about how this was calculated - particularly the fact that, whilst there is a section for state pensions, contribution based government pensions such as those for retired nurses and firemen were counted as 'welfare'. Which, most commentators have seen as a pretty cynical bit of manipulation to try and make it look like much more money is going on working age benefits than is actually the case.

Any idea what % of welfare is housing related? Selling off those council houses in the 80s may have been a long term bad idea, but then so was raiding the pensions and the cash4gold nonsense!
