Another one gone - Shops closing in Stafford

My vote is to turn the guildhall into an "Adventure Centre" along the lines of Star City....

- Indoor football picthes
- Indoor Crazy Golf
- Indoor go-karting (electric karts, did this in Berlin, great fun)
- Creche
- Indoor play area
- Indoor air-soft
- Food court

Should bring a few people into town aside from pensioners.

I spotted indoor paintball in Liverpool, we'd need to knock doorways between some shops though.

Not offering any solutions here, just throwing my tuppen'orth in. Main reason I don't often come in to Stafford to shop is lack of choice and parking, used to pick up the odd item at Greengate Deli but it got too much hassle to park. I can probably buy washing up liquid in Wilkos 50p cheaper than the supermarket but if it costs me a quid to park, what's the point. So, while I'm not getting stuff from Wilkos I'm also not using the butcher in the market or the fruit & veg shop behind the old Woolworths. Free, and easily accesible parkingwill always win me over unless there's an interesting choice of shops and a vibrant atmosphere, something sadly lacking in Stafford town centre. Mrs Trumpet likes Solihull for clothes shopping, I like Birmingham market for food shopping. Meat, fish ,lovely fresh veg, banter with the stall holders Saturday dinner can often be decided by what looks good on the day. Both easily accesible and worth, IMO, the fuel. On top of that, on a Saturday morning it can easily take me 30 mins to get from Eccy to a car park in Stafford, I can be parked up in Brum in 40!

If you're talking airsoft or paintball.... surely the deserted shopping centre angle adds authenticity....

I've heard people say that they don't want to go into a quiet pub. whether its atmosphere they're after or maybe a reassurance the food/drink is nice I don't know. Shame for crabbery street tho eh

I was only in there the other day
They had run out of ales though, apparently had a good night on Friday with the bands and drank them out of real stuff. Also short of bottles, but they found some Green Goblin upstairs luckily!
