Anyone else get a fixed penalty notice this evening?

What ho peeps

just wondering if anyone else got scammed tonight by the specials on sundown drive ? We had a minor fallout with the jobs worth knob head who insisted our vehicle was parked in a dangerous position ..which it wasn't !

so .. no yellow lines

no do not park here notices

so no indication that you were breaking a law of any kind in any way

AND we were instructed to park on sundown drive by the marshall at the castle ..no mention of a car park whatsoever !

However the ticket says "dangerously parked " which is shite as we really were not !

when we arrived back to the motor there stood 5 ! yep 5! ticket issuers ..seems like they had to call in reinforcements ( as I know one of them was supposed to be having the night off !) . I admit to being a bit peeved and a bit vocal then the special got a bit arsey with me and called for a REAL copper to intervene . Incidentally Mr Arsey was PC 6486 . If you happen to be reading this that's not slander or libellous !

So anyway wont waffle but when I asked him how many people had been issued with tickets on that road ( in 20 mins) he replied with some venom "12 sir!" ..and that was only in the 1 hour total we had been at t'castle !..lord knows how many peeps have been caught out not just today but all through the wet car park week .

Anyway I'm crying foul and not paying but electing to go to court maybe even get it in the newsletter or something . My thoughts are that we aren't the only poor saps who have been hit with this increasing the revenue stunt . so would be pleased to hear from anyone else who has been had by this blatant con trick and would urge you all NOT to pay the fine !

i sincerely hope you had a camera with you and took loads of pictures of how the car was parked. that got me out of one the other week.

that and the fact that the Hobby Bobby wrote the wrong road name on the ticket. Fryers Road!

4000th post? Whatever, I'm nonchalant..
I have to say I was surprised by the volume of plod up there this evening. last year, when thousands of punters attended I don't remember seeing a single copper. obviously got nothing better to do.

When you appeal, excuse me if it seems like I'm trying to teach my grandmother to suck eggs, but do not put anything derogitory about the ticketing officer. As a person who has disputed parking tickets three times in the past and won. All I can advise is if you haven't already, go back, take pictures, get your evidence together and dispute it, do not get personal. That's all you can do and good luck. Just remember, the plastic police are so much keener and so much more likely to get it wrong. I would just like to add that this is not directed to any individual, especially PC 6486.

I wanted to cycle :D

We only went up there for about an hour we got there at 7.40 and left about 8.40. The ticket was issued at 8.22.

think I saw the car parked and the officer standing by. I walked passed and he said soemthing to me about people never learning ....hmmm was it a read car...or black? remember them 2 colours and not much else about yesterday...YAWN!!

Yes ours is a red car.

As for the comment about people never learning, I ALWAYS look when I park my car at the side of a road.

a) for double yellow lines
b) for double white lines
c) I ask myself would I be causing an obstruction
d) can other cars and buses pass by safely
e) access to property
f) distance from a junction and/or bend

There was absolutely NO reason why I shouldn't have parked my car where I did.
I trained as a driving instructor a couple of years ago and I had to do an advanced theory test and an advanced driving test. I studied the highway code 'til it was coming out of my ears.

In my opinion my car was safely and legally parked.

I will be going to court armed with my photo's and my well informed opinions!

you could maybe plea bargain and tip them off about all the dangerously parked cars at the rear entrance (oo-err) of the hospital - on a hill, on a bend, on a junction, on a bus route

I had to bring this topic back.

I sent off the slip on the bottom of the ticket to be dealt with by a court and heard nothing!

After waiting for ages (today) I called the central ticket office to ask why I hadn't heard anything.

The ticket has been cancelled. They used the wrong ticket! They say they sent me a letter on 29th July. NOT. I asked for a copy, not possible!

They say it was an endorsable (sp?) offence! They say I was too close to a junction, causing other cars to move to the opposite side of the road to get around my car. I would have loved to have seen his tape measure. (Then again it was a man 1" = 6")

I was over 40ft from the junction. As with ANY parked car you have to go round them!

I wanted my day in court. Just how angry am I? :grr:

Surely if the letter was not recorded delivery, they can't prove they sent it. I would write a polite (recorded) letter to them stating that you did not receive their letter and therefore cannot act on it. Also state that you know you were not in the wrong, and therefore want this matter taken up in court. Then go on to say that should they refuse this, you believe they are breaking the law regarding your right to fair treatment. Backed up by the fact that they refuse to issue a copy of the letter you are supposed to have received, you do not believe any such document was issued.

Remember, they cannot prove you got the letter even if they prove it was sent. I don't believe they can penalise you based on this. Also for the record, I have recently received several letters dated August 16th. That means 3 weeks from sending to me receiving, where have they been?

Its a joke lately TBH. Although I have noticed 2 things:

1) Anything from the inland revenue ALWAYS gets to me
2) Most (but not all) late ones were collected by TNT, rather than RM

Not sure if this is relevant, just a trend I noticed.
