The police say -
Police have launched an investigation after a woman suffered serious injuries in a rural area of Stafford over the weekend.
A 45-year-old woman was found with serious head injuries at around 8pm on Saturday 13 July on the Isabel Trail, off Station Road, Haughton. She was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.
The woman is believed to have left The Bell Inn pub in Haughton and was riding an electric bike, before she was found injured a short time later.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of what happened and have arrested a 50-year-old man from Stafford on suspicion of assault GBH with intent.
Detective Inspector Alan Lyford, senior investigating officer for Staffordshire Police, said: "We are keen to establish what happened and how she came about her injuries. If you were in the area at the time of the incident or have information that can help us to piece together the series of events, please get in touch."
