Tracy Emin - a classic of our time - does she have a use apart from being there to have it asked about here whether she has a use or not?

Is drinking beer in Castletown art, culture or amusement? If so, then I shall be very artistic, cultural and amused (or amusing) from late afternoon today (Friday)...

I think that would depend on the company you keep and the topics of conversation. If you have a heated debate about the state of the economy, Monet, or perhaps what's going on with John Prescott's love life, and just happen to get :pie:-eyed in the process, then that's just a bonus. It's not going to the pub, it's a meeting that just happens to involve alcohol.

I agree that the company you keep is of paramount importance should conversation be of a suitable nature. I would certainly welcome a discussion as to whether the base rate should rise by another quarter point next month, Chagall, or if Two-Jags has paid the price for his infidelity by losing his country residence and portfolios. Also, one hot topic is bound to be "Lamb" or "Railway", a very important current issue (the answer is, of course, both).

One last issue - would it be improper to announce a quiz night on the day that it is to take place, or would such an impromptue and spontaneous act be seen as one of unplanned and unsuitable behaviour?

Hmm....i have a feeling you're on about the Hallowe'en Quiz tomorrow night in the Railway. If so, why not announce it now, then it's the day before! Genius!
