ASDA parking

Personally I don't fall into the it's only an invoice so don't pay it camp. If you avail yourself of parking and there is some form of charge attached, pay the charge.
I admire your integrity, these days almost everyone seems to think that they can do whatever they want without facing any form of consequence.

They must be losing a bit of business. I'd often park there, go to the bank and then do shopping there.

Can't wait for ALDI to open!

What, like going to a supermarket twice in the same day? Oh the horror, won't somebody please think of the children?!

Same here ! Used to park there , nip into town for the bank and maybe a few oddments and then return and do a big shop in the store most weeks, Not bothered shopping there since they introduced this penalty for stepping off the carpark on foot.

Enjoying a drop of red.
If they want to be tossers, let them. Since this new parking business started we simply haven't used Asda and, guess what, life goes on! Plenty of other supermarkets are available so there's no point stressing about the place.

I can see why Asda have introduced a 2hour limit because they want to ensure that their shoppers can park. I expect they have taken the decision now prior to the completion of the Riverside Development because visitors to the new shopping complex will undoubtedly use the Asda car park to avoid paying a parking fee.

I think a 2 hour limit is more than reasonable (and is the same as Tesco - they don't seem to be getting the same backlash) and is less annoying than the Sainsbury's system whereby you have to purchase a ticket first and then claim it back.

As for trying to charge you for stepping off the car park this is ridiculous, and , I expect will be dropped.

Asda have made their mark. Look over the road. Big shops, expensive car park, subsidised parking for council staff. perhaps asda should go for a pay/display with refund in store. I shop at Asda and I hope they continue to protect their parking. It may be a pain but they have been forward thinking

if ASDA introduces pay and display (like Sainsbury's) I will not be shopping there again.

I tend to 'pop in' Asda for items on the way home from work. I rarely have any change on me because it's usually an impulse buy (need beer / wine) or need milk for my child. As such, I will just drive to Tesco or another supermarket that does not charge.

Low and behold - such a letter has turned up on my doorstep last week.

A photo showing my arrival 08:03 am and leaving the car park at 5:56pm.

What it has failed to show is me leaving the car park around 08:20 (after consuming a "Flying Start" :heyhey:) driving off to work... and then returning again later that evening once I'd finished work to grab some required items.

I'm not sure whether to even grace them with my time writing a letter..... or just let them jog on!

This happened to my son at ASDA in Cannock after he had visited the shop twice in one day. There was a news article about other shoppers having the same problem with ASDA and so he sent them a letter with a copy and refused to pay and they didn't contact him again.

What if one person in a couple goes into ASDA and the other person goes into town. Would they fine them?

See I don't see the difference between that scenario and the person who is going to town getting out of the car before going into the ASDA car park.

Shows the stupidity of it all.

.
tesco allow you to walk in to town do some shopping and do a big shop at tesco at the same time they don't fine you for leaving the site on foot also think tesco is 3 hours and i have never struggles to find a space. i believe this to be a fair policy it stops abuse and ensures the customer can park easily.

our son is in the middle of disputing his ticket. he used asda on his way to work, and on the way back. he parks free all day on his works car park, and has no need to leave it on asda.
we use asda a lot, but if this tickets not sorted, it will cost asda a lot more.

If you google ASDA parking fines, you will see just how many people have had the same problem and have refused to pay. This has put my son off shopping at ASDA and they really need to stop persecuting their shoppers.

Noticed today all the parking signs are gone as well as the anpr cameras. Don't know if this is permanent or a monetary blip.
