I suppose as long as businesses keep failing there is money to be made renting out the same shop units to people over and over and over....

Really?

It is quite criminal that the Councils attitude seems to be to totally ignore the mistakes and lives that have been ruined whilst they played politics with the make up of the town, here's a shiny new thing.

The last few years have ruined Stafford and countless people have lost their livelihoods - but it's ok because B&M, who are about to be bought by Asda if the City it to be believed, are coming to town and creating "more than 50", part time, zero hour jobs in the mode of The Range

I've lived here for 8 or so years and don't feel the town has been ruined relative to when I first moved here. It's never been the most thriving town centre.

You moved to Stafford after the credit crunch crash so haven't seen it as it was. It used to be a very busy town centre.

What was here then that isn't here now? To what extent is that down to a general downturn in the market coupled with people having less disposable income and not, as suggested above, as a result of the actions of the borough council?!

Easiest way to tell what has gone is to look at the signs above empty shops!

Personally I think supermarkets have done a lot of the damage.

There are many more shops which have closed down but at present I cannot recall them. I'm sure someone else will be able to name them.
